If I ever do have to go to the office to meet clients or something, it is only a 10-15 minute drive, depending on traffic. The downside of it is that if I'm out with a client showing houses, depending on how many houses and how far away they are from each other, I have easily driven 100 miles in a day before.

We wern't going to live near his work, the school districts suck and it's not a good area. He travels a lot so it doesn't matter how far we are if he's away. And when you live far away from work people won't call you in when you're not working unless there's a real emergency. If you live close to work people think nothing of asking you to come in to pick something up or to do paperwork when you're not working because it's close.

If I leave before 7, it takes 20 minutes. After 7, it takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour. Last week, it took me 1 hour and 30 minutes one morning due to an overturned 18 wheeler that closed the freeway.

I used to drive an hour plus to work each day. I lived rent-free with some girls from my hockey team and worked downtown. Seemed like it was a fair trade.

Different routes also get different mpg's with the best mpg so far registering in at 45.9 mpg with a strong tailwind and lots of green lights. It take's about 45 minutes to an hour, with the record time being just over 30 minutes before they built all those big box stores that added a whole mess of stop lights along the way. I hope the stimulus spending gets them started on the I53 extension to the northern burbs.

It's not bad, but I'm thinking of moving closer because I'd like the extra time to sleep in the morning and do stuff in the afternoon. Problem is, I have made friends in this neighborhood and think of it as home. Decisions, decisions.

I've learned my lesson now and tell clients that if it snows, I'm not coming in. It's not worth it since I charge by the hour. I don't expect them to drive and meet me either.
