What's the driving distance to your job? |

I never understood whackos who have to drive an hour or two (without traffic) to get to their jobs. Either change jobs or move closer to it. If you add it up
that's a lot of wasted time in your life.

5-10 minutes, depending on how I catch the two traffic lights. I can't even fathom having a job where I spent hours commuting each day.

15 minutes, unless a train comes then 20-25.
It's a nice drive by the beach. |

I'm 15 minutes but my manager has to drive 1.5 hours. The guy who controls our banking region doesn't like his managers to live close by because he
thinks they are will give out money to their friends and family if they work at a location close to their home.

Maybe they can't afford to live near work. Or maybe they work in an area that wouldn't be so great to live in. When I used to work in the Bronx it was
about a 30-40 minute trip with no traffic but I had to wake up at 5:30 in the morning so I could leave by 6:30. I would sometimes get to work an hour to 40
minutes early but if I left any later I risked getting caught in rush hour traffic which could be an hour or two sitting in traffic . I got off work at 4 and
if I was in my car at 4:01 I would make it home in a half hour or less. Any later and it would take over an hour to get home.

I live five minutes (1.45 miles) from my job. Bignubber, though, has to drive an hour each way.

I live two counties away from my job, so it's takes me about 30 minutes to get there. I have to be at work at 6:30 AM :S

about 11-12 minutes on a good traffic day. I shudder to think of how much gas these people spend commuting like that. Half your paycheck would go into your gas
tank just to get to work.
Work to earn money to pay for the gas to get to work to earn money to pay for the gas to get to work to earn money to pay for the gas to get to work . . . |

Yeah, that model works if your job is at Wal-Mart.
Some folks actually have jobs that pay enough to fill their gas tanks TWICE a week! |

About 45 seconds if I come to rolling stops at two stop signs.

I have a job that is about 12 min away. The funny thing is people in town tell me that's a long way.
Starr, I have a job that pays me enough to where I alone make what the average american household brings in, and I only have to fill up my gas tank about three times every two months. I don't add an extra day to my work week by driving an hour each way. |

my job in California was 15 miles away from my home and took 1+ hours in good traffic each way. In bad traffic, fuggedaboudit.
now that I relocated to the midwest, my job is 5.5 miles away from home and I have to cross two bridges and it takes less than 15 minutes even in bad traffic. WOOT! That's over a week of time saved cumulatively, at the minimum, each year.

Congratulations!
I'm not sure why you're telling me that, but thanks for sharing. I was responding to Esugar's comments that half of peoples' paychecks go into their gas tank... (That was to TV, btw.) |

I have a job that pays me enough to where I alone make what the average american household brings in, In 2007, the median annual household income rose 1.3% to $50,233.00 according to the Census Bureau. Wow. |
