Many conservatives think McCain is not conservative enoughThat is exactly it right there. Actually, there aren't really very many conservative Republican elected officials out there- most of them swing moderate to liberal these days. Hardly any are true Republicans anymore. McCain lost because he was too wishy-washy. I think he was just a tired old man who didn't really want the job. |

Time for a reality check:
While she gave McCain an initial bounce in the polls, Palin ended up hurting his chances, once America saw what a ditz she was. But as bad a candidate as Palin was, it was really the financial crisis that doomed McCain's chances. |

Saying that Palin is making a mountain out of a molehill is not defending Letterman. Every article I read over the weekend has taken Letterman to task for his
joke involving A-Rod. And a lot of those articles also are critical of Palin for making much ado about nothing. So saying Palin is over-reacting is not the
same as saying Letterman did no wrong.
Also according to those who purport to know politics, Palin's interview with Couric is what caused folk to wake up and smell the coffee, as they say. I get the Letterman hate. Either you're on his bus or you're not. It's the Palin worship I don't get. She is hardly qualified to lead anyone anywhere. And besides, hero worship is for kids. And yet, even Palin's kid apparently knew enough to stop listening when it came to that abstinence talk Palin gave her. |

Really.
While at the gym, I saw on Faux news some nutter (the one writing a book on Palin) was outraged that Letterman is getting a pass while Don Imus got canned for an off-the-cuff comment that wasn't nearly as bad. Yes, calling young female athletes "nappy headed ho's" is far less offensive than a joke about ARod and a Palin daughter. Fortunately CNN was on the next screen covering real news. |

Letterman knows that he's driven away his conservative audience. Since he can't unring a bell, he's giving his remaining audience what he thinks
they want.

For a lot of conservatives I know that was the breaking point, and the poll numbers back this up. Palin's eau de stupide could not be hidden after that interview. Now that she's safely esconced back in Alaska I can watch that video and laugh and laugh. Palin whored out her own children during the election. Why is she surprised that the country noticed them? |
