This is such an unfair round. Hubert Keller is going to win this hands down.
I love Tim Love though. I must go to his resturant. |

They were going to show this scene in between commercials, but ran out of time. Hubert Keller's secret ingredient??

I really enjoyed the premier episode. I was also a little thrown by the format of 1 in 4 chance and then final 6 compete, but I guess they are extremely busy and the regular format just wouldn't work out with this group. I agree with pp about Texas Tim from Lonesome Dove restaurant = LOVED HIM. Hubert was definitely the favorite to win this one. I'm gonna put in my guesses on some of the finalists I think will make it through first round just because: Besh, Art Smith, Wylie, Roy Yamaguchi, Elizabeth Falkner - no particular reasoning other than I've seen more face time for some of them from the previews and just guesses on some. And with these names, do we think the food critics will truly judge them fairly based on their food and the given challenges or will some favoritism creep in somewhere because they tend to like a particular chef anyway? Of course, since we can't taste the food, we'd never know anyway. With no name chefs, I'm pretty sure the judges are fairly critical and for the most part judge the way it should be, but with this group I wonder. |

Who is this dumb asian bitch hosting? I already don't like her from the opening.
Gail Simmons on the panel <3333 The others </3 |

I liked the premiere, but yeah, I don't think they should tell them who owns what dish in the final round. Favoritism up the wazoo.
And Gael Greene looks like an old tranny. |

I love that there is no Padma, Tom or Gail! I don't like any of them.
One little problem with this show is that I kept waiting for them to say what Hubert's charity was, but they never said it until after he won. So whatever chef they don't let talk about their charity wins the episode. Spoilery... |

I REALLY liked this.. Hubert was a genius when planning the dessert for the kids. The mouse and the swan could have tasted like crap, but they were cute.. and
the girls would have given him props just for those alone.
I also like the format.. with only 4 per show (to start) you get a controlled chaos and there's time to "meet" each contestant and see more of the cooking/thoughts behind the dishes. |

I was thrown by the format at first, too. Was like "where are the other 20?". But I understand that it would be difficult to have these chefs follow
the same process as the Top Chefs contestants. None of them would agree to leave their restaurants for that long.
I think it was epic to have them cook in dorm rooms. Really shows you who has the skills and who can adapt to less than optimal circumstances. I think Tim (frozen guy) and Hubert (showering off his pasta) adapted the best but all of them did pretty well. |

They should not tell the judges who the dishes are from until they have submitted their scores

I liked the opener to this series. <3 Hubert! It was fun to watch the chefs observing the Girl Scouts' reaction to the desserts. They were all
funny and classy and looked like they really enjoyed being on the show.

<3 Hubert.
Didn't really care for the English guy judge. LMFAO at the Girlscouts critiquing the desserts. That little red head was a tough critic. We saw Gail this epi it seemed like she will be on every epi from the overview they gave at the beginning of the show. |

Love this show and I hope they do it every year. It's a refreshing break from the Tom/Padma & gang. I am sick of Tom, especially. I love Padma, but
Kelly is fantastic and they better keep her for the TC Masters in seasons to come.
Hubert absolutely earned his win and was the right winner. All of them were great and I really enjoyed seeing all of these great chefs challenged in the Top Chef format. They all seemed to do a great job and had a great attitude throughout. Looking forward to next week. |
