On Tuesday, 19 Recordings, the music division of 19 Entertainment, which produces "Idol," announced in a news release that it had signed Mr. Lambert, a 27-year-old San Diego native, to a recording contract and that he would release his debut album on RCA Records in the fall. In May the heavily favored Mr. Lambert finished second to his fellow contestant Kris Allen, who also has been signed to 19 Recordings. In a statement Mr. Lambert said that he and RCA "are 100 percent on the same page and are all anxiously awaiting the start of the recordings." He added, "It's going to be ridiculous!" Also, in an interview with Rolling Stone, Mr. Lambert said, "I don't think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear I'm gay."

My cousin and all of her middle school/high school friends were huge Adam supporters and voted for him like crazy. He was certainly on their radar and this would a be a private religious school to boot. I think Adam appeals to all ages.

I work at an elementary school, and a high school in Canada, and the kids there definitely know him and he has many fans in the school kids.

They encouraged Iraheta to pick up a guitar, express herself. "one of the vocal coaches once said to me, 'Stop giving everybody such good advice. No one else is doing it for them,'" says Lambert. "But it was good karma, you know?" Allen didn't need any of his help, and Lambert isn't upset about losing the competition to him. "I wasn't after the title," he says. "I was after staying on the platform as long as I could, and I did that." Allen has been unceasingly gracious about grabbing the crown. "Adam was consistent through the competition, and I was really shocked to win," he says.

Immediately devoured the article, yelling out to hubby, "OMG, you won't believe this, but Adam Lambert is GAY!" Much laughter ensued. Adam's hilarious and I look forward to seeing what he does next. (Though I can't bring myself to go to the Idol concert which opens where I live - if it was all Adam, Kris, Allison, and Anoop, I'd be all over it. I just can't spend money to see Sarver and Gokey. Or Lil. Ugh.)

I actually think that Adam saying he is not a civil rights leader is right on. I think Martin Luther King would have said, "I am a minister, not a civil rights leader." Adam's point, to me, seemed to be that he is interested in being himself, not being a spokesmodel. That said, the fact that he has come out right off the bat makes him of a bit of a leader in the push for civil rights. To me, he has the right perspective. More change is done by being who we are, openly and honestly, than making huge statements or trying to change the world. The old queer has spoken. Forgive me my strong opinion.
