I thought Bette came off like an ice cold bitch through the entire segment. Really surprising, given how she started, to complain about dick jokes. Please.
And wasn't she the one who ran with it when Kath said it on stage? (Something to the effect of "how would you know what dicks have been in my
mouth?")
Crazy Black Lady wanders Fremont all the time - you can find her pretty easily (I live in Vegas). |

Kathy and the Divine together? I almost lost it. :-) Can't wait to see her with Lily Tomlin next week!

I agree with the people saying that Bette was a little cold. I was a little surprised as well. I'm not a fan really, but of course I know who she is and
everything.

I thought Bette's uptight thing was an act. Playing along with how "shocking" Kathy's antics are. But then when she smiled tightly about the
"Wind Beneath My Wings" joke I wondered if she really just takes herself that seriously.

I chalked some of it up to her being nervous and not like her stage persona at all. But I got the feeling at times she was embarrassed to be around Kathy. Like
wondering how she'd manage to embarrass herself or Bette. Kathy doesn't care how she appears but it seemed Bette did.

I've never met Bette Midler but I have seen her here in town out and about, and I must say she's nothing at all like the person you'd expect her to
be. The way she was dressed when she went out with Kathy is not how she dresses. She dresses so 'normal' that many people do not even notice her (which
is what she wants, I assume). She plays it very low-key, which is not to say that's how she always is, but that's what I have seen.
Also, a few years back there was a letter going around the internet that was supposedly written by the Divine Miss M in support of gay marriage, which seemed in character for her. BUT, not only did Bette deny that she wrote the letter, she DENIED that she was in favor of gay marriage. She did not say she was against it, but said she didn't support it either. At the time I found that very strange, so her behavior on Kathy's show doesn't really surprise me. |

I read something from Bette recently that said she wasn't going to be a spokesperson for gay marriage. But then she said there should be gay marriage,
it's fabulous or something. But yeah, she's changed over time and has become more mellow. I think Kathy was trying to liven her up, but I think even
Kathy knew it wasn't so great this time.

They may share a store but I think Cher and Bette are polar opposites in a lot of ways besides being gay icons.
Bette = a bit uptight, concerned about what others think, mellowed out Cher = CHER <3 <3 <3 Cher...................... </3 Bette |

Hope to see Cher's concert on my next Vegas trip. The past couple times I've gone, I've skipped Bette's show. I would go if the tickets were
less expensive, but the DVD will probably be released at some point. Cher on the other hand is one you need to experience just once in concert. It's a
great experience!

I saw CHER twice last month and I will see Bette's show this month on the 23rd.
My first visit to CHER was at the discounted price of $90/ticket (plus entertainment taxes) in honour of Las Vegas Gay Pride. My second visit to CHER was FREE cuz someone I know gave us her comp'd tickets that she wasn't going to use. The Bette Midler tickets were also a discounted $90/ticket (plus entertainment taxes) in honour of Bette's 100th show. From the previews I've seen on TV I am way more excited about Bette's show than I was about CHER's. Both ladies perform in the Caesar's Palace Coliseum that was specially built for Celine Dion's 5-year run (I saw that show once). I've also seen Elton John and Stevie Nicks there but that's another story. |

Yeah, I've been to that wacky Celine store.
Do you have any connections for when I do get to Vegas to get discounted Cher tickets? :P And enjoy Bette on my birthday! :) |

And the mere mention of Celine always triggers me to post the most hilarious video spoof I've ever seen of her (or just about anyone). I love this so
much.

That's your birthday??? Awww, I'll think of you. If I hear of any more CHER promos I'll keep you posted.
Celine's show was actually very, very good! I am not in any way a fan of Celine Dion but I don't dislike her. But one need not be a fan to enjoy her show I found out. It was all kinds of awesome. Since it was produced by the same guy that produces Cirque du Soleil shows we would always refer to it as "Cirque du Celine" cuz it was kinda half Cirque / half Celine. I have to give Celine credit for putting in the work though, which is something CHER didn't do at all. Celine was on the stage singing and dancing tirelessly. CHER was off stage at least as much as she was on stage. I would have preferred her to stay on stage and entertain rather than run to her dressing room every 2 minutes to change outfits for the next song. She would leave the stage before the current song was over, then re-appear when the next song was already started. And she danced with her dancers for maybe 3 minutes total. Celine worked her ass off in comparison. And that stage isn't small. It's GIGANTIC! |

Well Cher is 60-ish. Probably changing clothes in between was all the energy she had left.
And Cirque du Celine...isn't that what Kathy called it? |

Did she? Probably. It just fits.
