Winston and I walk by a memorial once or twice a week. It's for some high school girl that died. It's pretty nasty with garbage and dirty stuffed
animals. I'll try to remember and bring my camera tomorrow.

The new trend is Geocaching the Memorial Sites. That's pretty cool. I usually take one of the mementos and leave a happy little greeting to the next
explorer. It's fun! And sometimes, you get to meet really nice, albeit somewhat mopey, relatives of the victims.

A topic close to my heart and house. About a block away, there's a picture of a little girl that was run over by a crazed teenager more than 12 years ago.
Nobody has the heart to take it down, even though the family moved away because of the constant heart break. The memorial is technically on city right of way,
but they won't take it down. I would rather see a memorial in the form of a park bench, a tree planting or something else, but not a plaque showing where
they died.

My work is about a 5 minute drive from my house. I passed 3 on my way home.

I counted 7 on my way to work and with all this rain here they look like trash piles.

In South Dakota a sign is placed next to the highway where someone has died. Every highway, every road. If five people died in a crash there will be five
signs. For reals! They are even cooler when they get decorated for the holidays. Festive!

Or if there are so many, people will start to ignore them.

Here they allow them for 10 days or something like that and then DPS removes them.

in NH there is a huge stretch of highway on the way to Hampton beach that has white crosses every few feet for at least a couple of miles.
The weirdest one I saw was a couple of years ago, a young couple got killed by a tractor trailer truck, and the grandparents of the girl put up a huge sign, like 15' wide, that just said, "WHY?" on it. Very weird. |

OK, I'm sorry, but that's just boarding on litter.
And the cans of "Full Throttle" would be a true statement of irony, if excessive speed were a cause of the crash. |

How classy. Cans of full throttle and "Janelle is still the shit" graffiti. |
