At first, I thought Gabon was a pretty average season but looking back it had some epic characters even if I did hate most of them. Kenny, Crystal, Randy, Sugar, Corinne, and even Matty are all All-Stars material. Hell, even some of the earlier boots like Ace, Paloma and GC weren't duds like most lsoer lodge contestants are.

Anyone who judges Gabon as better than China is clearly disturbed. Gabon's cast was made up of half waste contestants, and half interesting personalities. China had original twists and challenges, and the cast was filled with interesting characters. Gabon's theme of good vs. evil was so forced down our throats that it felt so fake and scripted. Not to mention Sugar's sabotage.

I hate when people say China feels like a pre-ASS season though. It has 16 contestants and player introductions (sort of)...and that's about it.

I also have to disagree when you say China wasn't like a pre-ASS season, but then again, I also consider the two seasons that preceded it. Yeah, it had a F3 and HIIs, but other than that, (in addition to the obvious like 16 people) you could tell a difference with editing because half the cast was no longer INV for most of the game, rather, I felt like I got to relate to almost everyone pretty well. Also, part of the "back to the basics" feel of it was because of the removal of haphazard twists Jiffy threw out every other episode, which were much more noticeable in the three seasons (or around that) which preceded China (and in Gabon kind of) Oh, and congrats on joining CSC's official list of retards, although I feel slightly better when I see your name there with mine.

China--sucked. Predictable season; the only likeable characters were James, Erik, and Amanda. Could have been a slightly better season if the outcome hadn't been so frustrating. The best player was CLEARLY Amanda, not Todd.

Although, Gabon had an awful winner, since Susie actually WAS the better choice for a winner. Whereas China has plenty of boring characters such as: Jaime, Frosti, Erik, Denise, and Amanda. I'll definitely admit that Crystal was a great character, so I can understand why people like her (although I don't quite get why "Eat yo rice" has become a catchphrase). Ken though just felt like Asian Todd to me, which I guess explains his popularity here. Both just kind of riffed off strategic cliches. Kenny was actually semi-charming in a goofy way during the first few episodes but when they went into the whole "growth" storyline, he just became insufferable and I don't get why he remained so popular besides being Crystal's Asian friend. I'm not crazy about either him or Todd but Todd kept better company at least. There probably are some other overrated aspects to Gabon, but it's not one that you generally see towards the top of peoples' rankings. It's either around the halfway point or close to the bottom. I'm sure someone will come in here to argue that they rank it in the top five or whatever, but you know what I mean. The F3 and idols are definitely the most obvious differences but I could never see Ashley or Jean-Robert (as much as I love him) being included on a pre-ASS season. There was a much-needed lack of twists though which was a good way. And I definitely agree on (and love) the more balanced editing. I just think the overall cast didn't feel like a pre-ASS group. Oh, and congrats on joining CSC's official list of retards, although I feel slightly better when I see your name there with mine. I know, at least we both merited sad faces.
