Their early stuff is great, but starting w/ the Discovery album, Jeff Lynne developed his now trademark production style that he's used w/ every artist
he's worked with since and it sucks. Harsh, canned, tinny and very dated. Showdown, Evil Woman and Can't Get It Out Of My Head are probably my top
three.

El dorado is the intro to I Can't Get It Out of MY Head, I posted on page 1. The youtube vid plays both, they MUST be heard back to back! |

While I appreciate and understand Jeff Lynne's Beatles obsession, even his work on their two previously unreleased tracks for "Anthology" have
that Jeff Lynne vibe to them. I'm sure that his close friendship with George is the reason he was chosen as producer but damn! Whither George Martin?!
And my answer to this one is Mr. Blue Sky...and Showdown. |

I agree that the Anthology tracks would have sounded much better without the Jeff Lynne sound -- everything he's produced since 1980 sounds the same and it all sounds like 1980. |

Strange Magic, if I HAVE to pick. They have so very many good ones, it's hard to choose.

It's gotta be "Turn To Stone". Also "Hold On Tight" and "Rock n Roll is King".

Don't make me choose
Probably Strange Magic or Telephone Line, but I celebrate their entire catalog. Also, the Traveling Wilburys is the best supergroup evah. Take that, Highwaymen. |
