Manila - A 53-year-old Bulgarian national died from a heart attack while competing in a reality show on an eastern Philippine island, police said Sunday. The victim, Moncho Vodnicharov, was a contestant in the show, "Survivor Bulgaria," which was filming on Caramoan island, Camarines Sur province, a police report said.

"After performing an activity as part of the contest on Saturday, the victim suffered cardiac arrest that result to his instant death," the report added.

The police report said two physicians at the set confirmed the cause of death.

No details were disclosed about the challenge that Vodnicharov participated in. Police said the victim's body was to be airlifted to Manila.

Caramoan island previously hosted French and Israeli editions of the popular US reality show "Survivor."

In Survivor, contestants are isolated in a remote location where they must fend for food, shelter and water for themselves. They also compete in various physical and mental challenges.
