And what better to cover up his daughter's murders then to pinpoint it on Wakefield. Then he tries to shuttle her off but then starts monitoring her killings once they start reappearing on the West Coast.

Well, the reality could be a less sinister plot that still has her as the killer. The father does NOT know that his daughter did the murders (he shoots Wakefield thinking Wakefield murdered everyone) and sends her away for the reason offered by the show - he wants her to have the same memory of her mother as she always had. He then follows similar murders on the West Coast never putting 2 and 2 together that his daughter is the murderer (hey, it could happen, he doesn't seem that swift). When she comes back, she starts murdering again on the island because that is her nature. Probably 10 more deaths until the Sheriff realizes that Abby is actually the killer and then she probably offs him right before the grand finale with Henry, Trish, Shea, Chloe, the saloon owner and the black dude. That would explain why he isn't apprehending her at this point. And the REAL kicker will be that she is actually Wakefield's daughter and he was never the father.

However, that leaves the whole scene with Jimmy unanswered. Perhaps Jimmy does know that there is something wrong with her but wants to protect her out of love?

Que, in these sort of shows, as long as she isn't bedridden or in a wheelchair, she could string up Shaquille O'Neal with amazing deftness. The reality could be that she and her Wakefield dad both committed the original murders and now she is finishing everything up.
