Well, there were three genuinely good contestants this year. It's not any real mystery. Then we had a huge bunch of inconsistent misfires and three or
four pieces of unredeemable dreck.
My responses to season one were incomplete; I only saw the last three weeks. |

Bitch please, Constantine sucks. I'd say the first really original contestant was Cook. Contestants like him and Adam had the benefit of a very different
American Idol though, instruments really changed the game and opened it up and opened the doors for people who wanted to do different things.
If you want to go further back than that I'd sooner credit Bo or even Blake fucking Lewis (who I loathed) with being the first or one of the first more original contestants, not Constantcrap. How was he original? He was dramatic maybe but not original. He didn't change shit up and he sang a Nickelback song and a fucking Partridge Family song. Fuck that bullshit. |

I did the survey this afternoon and was generous with quite a few 8s, 9s and 10s. I gave Gokey, Sarver and Corey 1s just as votes of loathing.
I remembered everyone from Season 1 but there were quite a few from Seasons 2-4 I couldn't remember so I gave a lot of 3s and 4s bc they couldn't be that good if I can't recall them. I think the mediocre contestants from later seasons will do better only because people will be more likely to remember them. |

remember her name now cuz I thought it was strange that I couldn't remember her then. I think I gave her an N/A

I loved Stephanie Edwards. She was my favorite "diva" from that season, but she faltered badly once she made top 12.

I'm a serious Idol dork and I remember everyone. I even remember semi-finalists and I do this all while remembering contestants from a whole whack of other
Idol shows too. I either have a really good memory or I have serious problems that this is the kind of information I choose to retain.
Stephanie Edwards. She got eliminated after she sang "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me" and she also sang some Beyonce shit. She was boring and I didn't care for her. |

Bo for bringing the rocker component and Blake was truly the first to totally rearrange a song; Cook took the same path as Blake but with a better voice and instinct. The only similarity between Connie and Adam is that, while Adam has a fabulous voice, they both play at being a rocker. An actor playing the part - Adam can just do it a million time better because his voice is so superior to Connie's. And Adam is not an arrogant, pit sniffing, douchebag. Waiting for the tards to lambaste me for saying Adam was playing the rocker part. That was my only big gripe with him. Like I said on finale night - if the producers let Adam choose his duet partner, who would he have picked? Kiss? Or Britney? Y'all know. Don't front. |

Apparently Adam's favourite band is Queen so maybe he would have chosen them but they were already performing.
I don't think Adam was playing the rocker part either. I think he was doing his own theatrical Adam thing and people labeled him a rocker, he didn't call himself a rock god now did he. Bo definitely opened the door for legit rockers and that a capella thing was totally original. Blake despite his shitty singing definitely brought something original with song arrangements and beat boxing. Constantine brought nothing new, except maybe AI probably had to hire new janitors to clean his slime off the stage. |
