They get their hopes up that one of the underdogs is going to win, then they get all upset when Brooke/Davis/Katy/Ryan etc. get kicked off in the first third. I'm not saying you can't root for whoever you want, but people act all sorts of shocked when Evan doesn't go home third, or when Brooke is taken out second. Look at the feelings about people that started out as favorites (Landon or Brad) but once they start doing consistently well people start calling them cocky or douchebaggy.

Your entire argument is circumstantial and ignorant. Evan, Kenny, and Johnny being douchebags does not relate in any way to how long they last in the game.
