They were both used instruments during the stage. Instruments were allowed in semi-finals in last year's AI7.

I think David Cook would but I honestly am not sure if Kris would.
If you really think about it though even if it they didn't play instruments they still could have arranged the songs the same way. They could still do an acoustic version or a piano song or whatever, someone else would just be playing instrument. I think the instruments really added to the performances but it wasn't the fact that they could play them, it was the nice arrangements they came up with. |

Cook probably would have not been effected but I think Kris definitley would have. That is not a knock on his talent just a compliment to (most of) the rest
of the field.

Possibly. I think they still would have gone far but the instruments did help a lot of people enhance their performances

Jason, Brooke, and Kris have benefited the most. None of them would have done well at all in the earlier seasons because there was a much bigger emphasis on
vocal ability.
I love all three of them though so I'm glad they changed the rules. David probably still would have been okay but I don't care for him. |

If you need an instrument to compete with someone who does not need an instrument, you clearly are not a better singer than they are. I say get rid of the
instruments.
