Scott definitely deserved more tonight. He got nothing.

I guess Billy Joel didn't want to get upstaged by a mediocre blind dude.

So what if Billy Joel bailed. They could have still had Scott and Matt duet/duel on their pianos. I'm not even a Scott fan, but this is all kinds of wrong. I love Matt the most, and hate to see him short-changed. But what they did to Scott is absolutely egregious. |

They didn't care. They never did. Wait until Scott wins an award, then they will start treating him as the next best thing. See: Jennifer Hudson.

I am now trying to imagine Scott singing "And I am Telling You, I'm Not Going.'
With an electric guitar. To show his punk side. Well, I think he probably will not win any awards, at least not in pop music, and I realize this is the last time we are ever going to see him. But damn. I really, really would have enjoyed watching a piano duel. That's something I've never seen. Of course, I'd never seen Steve Martin play the banjo, either, but I think I'd like the piano duel better. |

It's become the accepted wisdom that Jennifer Hudson was treated badly on the show. Actually, she was rejected twice by the viewing public. The first time, she ended up as a judge choice (I think it was Randy) for a Wildcard. For the most part, she got very good critiques from the judges even Simon although he wasn't quite as enthusiastic as the other two.

Scott blogged again on his myspace. The blog's too long to post in here so you'll have to see for yourself but basically what we thought had happened,
happened. He and Matt were supposed to have a duelling grand piano performance on Finale Night, singing 'Tell her about it'. And then Billy Joel would
join them on stage. They'd been practicing and were very excited because nothing like this had been done on the show before. They were supposed to follow
the Kris/Keith duet. And then on the day of the finale, they heard the news that Joel couldn't make it and they axed the duet because it was the only one
NOT featuring a celebrity.
Eff you, show. Obviously, the guy's disappointed but he's thinking of posting the rough rehearsal demo on his myspace if they'll allow him. |

What the producers think...... |

What have we learned here, kids?
1. In the finale, contestant numbers only exist as a means to suck up to famous people. If there is no celebrity, it has no worth. Because Billy Joel is so hot and relevant these days. 2. Everybody would much rather see Kara strip down than to watch a piano duel. Now, here's my question: is Scott going to get punished for telling us this? |

I remember two years ago the only celebrity they could find for Jordin to duet with was Reuben. Why couldn't they have hauled out Reuben at the end of a
Scott/Matt dueling piano number if they needed a "celebrity"?

abrahammy wrote: You know, I felt bad that Scott was ignored at the finale, but after reading that myspace blog, he has just turned out to be such a whiny little bitch, I'm kind of glad now. And I think if he's "punished" for any of it, it would (rightfully so) be this part: My email inbox has been flooded with questions from dear fans around the world such as "Why didn't you perform a duet after finishing in 8th place?" "Why were you the only Top 13 performer who didn't have solos in any of the group numbers?" "Why were you mostly in the background on stage?" and even "Why were you discriminated against as a visually impaired performer?" I appreciate hearing everything you all have to say through your emails, MySpace comments, Twitter posts, AI.com forum posts, etc, and I completely agree with many of your sentiments. All I can say is that I share your frustration and am as disappointed as you are that I wasn't featured during the Finale. I honestly just mustered up a smile and danced my way through the show [oh, you brave little trouper, you]… I realize life isn't fair, and with 30 million viewers tuning in, it definitely seems like a lost opportunity. But I believe God is bigger than all of this and has a plan for my life reaching far beyond the circumstances of today. I have dealt with these kinds of situations before and know that everything happens for a reason and in time I very well may look back on this and finally realize it was for the best and that something better was waiting just around the corner. So he basically accuses the show of discriminating against him because he's blind. Then he encourages his fans to send letters of protest to the
"talented and warm-hearted" guy he just claimed PROMISED that he'll get to appear on the show next year. That entire paragraph about
Warwick's "promise" was quite off-putting to me. Very passive-agressive.

OK, I was a little put off by the blatant clarion cry to bombard Ken with mail. But go listen to rehearsal on Scott's website. The actual number is
AWESOME - the best work either man has done.
And frankly, Scott left the show in a cloud as a bad singer. He needed this. It's really very good.

Well, I happened to listen to the rehearsal clip on his myspace, and it did remind me that Scott always sounds like a piano guy who can't live without a metronome -monotonous singing with no dynamics. Matt sounded good as usual but with the duet with Scott, he was also Bruce Hornsby-ized. It was stiil better than the Rod Steward solo but not as great as I assumed to be. I understand Scott's frustration but encouraging his fans to write to the producers is a bit immature. |

Immature? I'm afraid it's going to get him knocked off the tour. They do shit like this to people who cause trouble.
Consider that Scott left the show after butchering a power ballad with an electric guitar. and making silly comments about his punk side. He needed to remind people that he was actually good at something - anything! And, you know, he is. Matt at least got a vocal solo. Scott got stuck dancing. Dancing! Fuckheads, the man is fucking BLIND. He looks like an idiot attempting to dance. He's an OK vocalist and a really good piano player, and this was his last chance to make that known. I listened to the rehearsal tape and I thought they sounded pretty good. I would gladly have given up the Bikini Girl number for this. |

I would have given up the BG segment to watch paint dry. I wasn't a fan of Scott's, but he deserved better.

No!! Bikini girl with Kara was great. It was at least funny. I doubt he's gonna get knocked off the tour because of this. Ken Warwick is an imcompetent producer, but not as vicious as Nigel IMO. |

It is very easy to arrange for an unfortunate accident to befall a blind man during the tour. "We didn't see Scott standing behind the tour bus until it was too late... sob!" |

I don't think Scott's claiming the show discriminated against him because he's blind. I believe what he's talking about is that like every
other person trying to make it in show business he's had his share of disappointments and missed or lost opportunities.
FWIW, I don't think Scott is a bad dancer. He can do the steps and he does a decent job of knowing where he's supposed to be (and his fellow Idols do a great job helping him too). He just looks weird dancing because of his facial expressions. He can look kind of manic sometimes.
