If you think back, after Mad World, Adam really cranked up the screams to supersonic levels of excess. After his performances he would laugh to himself. He was the joker, the jester, the clown. Esp after Kris became a viable contender. Adam WANTED TO LOSE. Why, Dunno. Makes sense? He had a meteoric rise, then all of a sudden he got worse and worse. Battle fatigue? Time constraints? Buckled under pressure? Even his Crying sounded mediocre. It was love. D to the I to the A to the M to the O to the N to the D to the pearls of love, baby. :P

Wonder if this will be the final straw for him, and he will not be returning. This year was exciting for him because of Adam, and he probably can't bear the thought of going through another dreary season, as they will be hard pressed to find someone as entertaining. I wouldn't be surprised if he announces he's not renewing his contract in the next few days. And putting a positive spin on what happened tonight - Adam losing is going to give him more press, then winning would have, and that really is the name of the game isn't it - to be in the spotlight as long as possible. Hopefully, Adam is savvy to that and it eases the disappointment somewhat. My theory has always been that winning AI, if you want to be a "rockstar" is going to be an albratross around your neck. I think David Cook is miles better than Chris Daughtry, but will never see his success, just because of having to carry that cheesy title - "American Idol" It's not cool and will never be cool.

I've been very surprised at those who have really excelled after this show and just as surprised at those who haven't. All I know is that I'm glad I discovered Adam through this. He's exactly the type of singer that I like, and I will buy whatever music he releases in the future. The studio versions of his from this season are phenomenal so I'm glad he lasted long enough that we got a lot of them. And, no cheesy Disney commercial either. :)

David Cook. The title isn't a bad thing if you really are good. Look at Kelly. People give her lots of respect -- even within the indie rock crowd, which is not easily impressed. Hell, Ted Leo has a pretty good cover of "Since U Been Gone".

It runs out after next season. I tihnk Simon will do whatever makes him the most money. And if he gets enough of it, he'll stay with AI.
