Gut: Momentum's a big deal. I think Kris takes it.

Posts: 40 (05/19/09 9:19 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	Brain: Adam Heart: Adam Gut: Adam Kris just doesn't have the vocal range for me--he just sounds so plain(and admittedly, I really really tried to like him). Allison should have been in his spot in my opinion. If Adam doesn't take it, I will be very surprised. Song wise: #1: Adam's "A Change Is Gonna Come". VERY VERY nice--I was actually surprised how well he sang it. This is the song that will win it for him. #2: Kris' "Ain't No Sunshine". He did that song very well--definately his best song of the night. #3: Adam's "Mad World". Wasn't as good the second time, but still sung very very well. #4: Kris' "What's Goin' On". Nothing all that special about his version, but he sang it well. #5: Kris' "No Boundaries". Only because it suits him better than Adam. I can't see Adam singing something like that. You could tell Kris struggled through it though--he had defeat written all over his face after it was done. #6: Adam's "No Boundaries". Just not his song style.

Adam - Mad World: I thought the vocal was better this time around, but the London fog nonsense took away from his strongest emotional connection to a song yet, imo. 2. Kris - Ain't No Sunshine: Better this time too, and the lisping didn't sound as bad. He's still not a very good piano player, though. 3. Adam - Change is Gonna Come: Eh, I'm lukewarm on this, but to his credit he held back more than I thought he would. He still really doesn't have enough soul in his voice to nail this song. 4. Kris - What's Goin' On: It was a mistake to do a casual She Works Hard For the Money/Heartless type arrangement for this song, although I doubt it will cost him much. 5./6. Not even Janis Joplin or Otis Redding risen from the dead could have polished that turd, but Kris had to strain and make all of his best little monkey faces to hit the notes, and even then he wasn't always successful. He made very smart moves during the competition that kept him in the running. Tonight he was amazing on the first two songs (fuck you Simon) and did the best he could on the shitty "No Boundaries". Adam - Classy and talented as ever. The first performance was haunting. The second a flawless and bluesy vocal. However he had some bad notes on the shitty last song. He's lucky Kara/TPTB made the song more in his wheelhouse and against Kris. Overall to me it really doesn't matter who wins. Both will be signed to major deals and release albums that I'll purchase. But to make up for shut a HORRIBLE start with JUMP SHARK MOMENT twists and HEAVY manipulation, I hope Kris gets the title. I've doubted Kris all season and he's surprised me. So maybe he'll do the same tomorrow: Runner Up - Kris Winner of American Idol 2009: Adam Lambert

They are so different that is really is tough to compare; I don't know what criteria I should be using. Adam - Came out tonight to really display his awesome performing abilities and showcase himself as an entertainer. He brought out his full spectrum of performances ranging from subtle to poignant to outright vocally dazzling, sometimes in one performance. He works the stage like a superstar, whether he will end up as one or not. His vocal acrobatics haven't always been my cup of tea, but I've always been impressed by his ridiculous range. Kris - He showed us exactly why he is still here - due to his creativity and musicality. Not only did he play the guitar, piano and sing straight up in one night, but he also managed to pull his songs into a current feel. His pitch is always extremely centered. He came out with a couple really smart arrangements that conveyed his understanding of the songs due to the various punctuations he made. Winner? I'm going to have to go with Adam- it has been the season of the glam rocker since day 1.

"AIn't No Sunshine" is probably the only song I would buy all season. I enjoyed Adam's first version of "Mad World" better--he just seemed a tad off last night compared to that first version. Second songs I give a very slight edge to Kris. Adam's screeching continues to turn me off....maybe it is just in a pitch that hurts my ears. I give Adam the win on that horrible third song. B: Adam is the choosen one. It was almost like the judges were letting Kris down easy starting last night. H: Kris lacks the showmanship that Adam has, but Adam has too much of it for me to take him seriously. G: Adam because it has been preordained from pretty much the beginning. Can't imagine TPTB having it come out different and somehow the shocking boots never happen at the finale.

Can you image what Danny would have done to "No Boundaries?" He would have taken it seriously! Basically, I agree with abrahammy. There were outstanding performances and no weak ones. 1. Adam 2. Modulated the drama just enough to render it appropriate for a blues \ spiritual song. In the end, his versatility is what ranks him ahead of Kris, IMO. 2. Adam 1. I'm a huge fan of that +##%* For Fears album. THIS, not Gokey from last week, was a vocal master class. 3. Kris 1. Impressive that he breathed new life into an old chesnut (overrated in my opinion) song. 4. Kris 2. Kris on piano > Kris on guitar. Simon was correct; it was slack. 5 + 6. Not the worst song heard this season (see Paula Abdul, Flo Rida), but bad enough. Kris > Adam on it, as Adam just could not fake it. I've been wrong all year on the voting, so here it goes again. I'd think that the majority of Danny's voters will go to Kris, and hence that he will win.
