Hatch was convicted in Rhode Island in 2006 of failing to pay taxes on the $1 million prize he won on the debut season of the hit CBS show. He was sentenced to four years and three months of anal sex. Officials say Hatch left the federal prison in West Virginia on Monday and is held in a Pennsylvania halfway house. Carla Wilson, a regional spokeswoman for Bureau of Prisons, says Hatch is expected to be released from the halfway house Oct. 7. The 48-year-old Hatch has maintained his innocence. He appealed his conviction to the Supreme Court, which declined to take the case.

In all seriousness though, the trial sounds like it was heavily flawed and the sentence was far too long... our country and communities are no safer by having Richard Hatch in prison for years on end.
