It was a large combination of things. This one, even though I'm pissed that Crystal is gone, there's a lot of good going for it to counterbalance that.

That's why I felt it was more valid. I still feel like the 1 was a bit harsh bc it had some good things too like the GC/Randy fight, but anyways, I understood where you were coming from and I know the challenges were boring and the less interesting group succeeded, etc. I agreed with you on that.

Umm... no, Stephenie holds that record in Palau. Please be as detailed as you can, wherever possible. Good stuff, but definately not as good as the previous one. The beginning was good with Randy's anger and Jacquie's out-of-the-loop vote, since they were both kinda interesting storylines. I also liked the reward challenge a lot, since it tells a lot about people and also it's easy to follow even when reading it without seeing. Also the part between the challenges was good with Charlie trying to work Jacquie and Randy burning the idol. The reward was pretty dull but that kinda rewards are hardly ever interesting. I do think though that the ending of the episode was not as good as the early part. Pre-TC strategy was pretty dull as it only focused on Jacquie, and even though it was very nice to see some development for her too the others were almost entirely ignored. TC turning into Oprah seemed way too unreal for me and I didn't find it all that interesting/entertaining. Also, the outcome was victory for the boring people. Oh my gosh guatemala fanfic, I actually caught up! XD I personally think it would be a stupid move, assuming that my players are as strategic and game-saavy as they usually are. Someone please tell me why it's a stupid move for them and I will give you imaginary points. :) I don't know if anyone has answered this already (I don't read other people's responces because I don't have the time), but it would give Jacquie the chance to be the swing vote again between G. C. and Randy/Charlie and Paloma. OMG, do I get imaginary points?! One of the things that stuck out to me this episode how Dan had to help Charlie make a fire... Does that mean that Dan is the one keeping Charlie in the game? Hrm... Overall, it was a good episode for me, but I didn't like some of the parts of it. I was pleasantly surprised with the votes, but I felt uncomfortable reading the Paloma/Randy exchange at tribal council. I wasn't personally offended or anything, but it was what made the episode a nine for me instead of a ten. I get why it needed to be in there though. If I hadn't said it before (am I the only one like this?): Dan/Charlie/Jacquie/Paloma LOVE. Seriously, these were like my favorite people from this season lol. Normally, I'd think it was a shitty thing to say, but if you are going to dish it out you better be able to take it. Randy's so holier-than-thou it pisses me off. Both in the real show and here. Sadly, I don't expect there to be a Tocantins fanfic. I really hope you reconsider. I'd love to see your take on Coach, Tyson, Sandy, Erinn, Taj, Candace etc. Though I'd really like to see you make Taj voted out first just to piss off the people who are throwing a fit and ranking unfairly just for having Crystal voted out. He was so amazing this episode and it looks like he'll be even more amazing next episode. His destroying the idol while Jacquie was talking about how much she wanted the idol was like something out of a Greek tragedy. And Jacquie is way better than I ever gave her credit for! I love 4-3 votes at F7. And Dan has a million lives, jeez! Honestly, I have hated him all season but the fact that he has played the Eliza game and escaped the vote so often ALMOST makes me like him. I'm glad you liked this episode better than the last two, and I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts! :) -Hmm, Charlie says "day 28, almost over", foreshadowing of him going home this episode? Day 28 isn't 'almost over' the last 3 days at the F4 is almost over. Okay, I guess that's true. But compared to how long 28 days would feel, I'm sure 11 left might seem like they were nearing the end. -Err, what, Dan's survived more consecutive tribal councils then anyone in the game? Umm... no, Stephenie holds that record in Palau. Did you mean survived the most TC's in a row where he got votes? Yeah, that's what I meant sorry. The most consecutive Tribal Councils where he got votes and was extremely close to going home (ie. saved by purple rock twice, Ace blindside, then hidden Immunity Idol). -May not have been the best idea to leave Jacquie alone with the other 3 members of the other alliance. I definitely agree with that and it cost Crystal in the end! -Good no more HII thanks to Randy This was the only way that I could avoid having the idol constantly found and screwing up the end game. -A whole LOT of focus on Randy at the TC, kind of makes you feel sorry for him That was my intention - to give you a better understanding of him so you know why he's like that. That's why he will be M instead of N. Disappointing to see all three of Charlie/Dan/Paloma still here, but good to finally see them talking more seriously about voting each other out. As much as C/D/P may be seen as "boring," there's a great little moment that happens with them and Randy next week, that I'm glad to have them around for. 9/10 Thanks very much for that. 5, 7, 9 for the last three episodes. Charlie (I guess he's still the best choice, though he makes me nervous in a 'too obvious' to be it way) Well, I think if Charlie doesn't win this and Stephen doesn't win Tocantins, there should probably be a rule that someone who gets bland CPs and MORs, and a lot of CP3s does not win based on Edgic. 2. GC (He's well positioned in the story to pull off a dramatic turn of events to win, and has decent numbers) I would agree with that, although it's weird that his visibility for the last 6 episodes has been 2-2-5-5-2-2. Not Good -Randy (He's gotten too N to be the winner lately, though this episode was an improvement for him) Well, the negativity and 2 OTTs in a row now. I always enjoy reading what you had to say and once again, you bring up some good points. Much appreciated! Good stuff, but definately not as good as the previous one. The beginning was good with Randy's anger and Jacquie's out-of-the-loop vote, since they were both kinda interesting storylines. Hmm, well I'm glad you liked it, but sorry about it not being as good as the last one. I've really liked every episode this season, and especially the last 3-4, so I guess I'm not the best to judge which ones are better than others. I also liked the reward challenge a lot, since it tells a lot about people and also it's easy to follow even when reading it without seeing. Also the part between the challenges was good with Charlie trying to work Jacquie and Randy burning the idol. The reward was pretty dull but that kinda rewards are hardly ever interesting. Thanks. Glad you liked the Reward Challenge. It's one of my favorites also - I just wish I could have had a few more questions in there, but it would have been WAY too long in that case. I agree with you about the Reward, which is why I kept it as short as possible. I do think though that the ending of the episode was not as good as the early part. Pre-TC strategy was pretty dull as it only focused on Jacquie, and even though it was very nice to see some development for her too the others were almost entirely ignored. TC turning into Oprah seemed way too unreal for me and I didn't find it all that interesting/entertaining. Also, the outcome was victory for the boring people. I also agree with you about the pre-TC scene being fairly boring, and I know that's usually your favorite part of the episodes so I can see why you wouldn't have enjoyed this one as much as others. Basically the reason it was short and dull was because we already knew Jacquie was the swing vote and there weren't really any new developments other than Jacquie/Paloma F2. Sorry about the Tribal Council. I didn't find it to be too unrealistic, and I still think it's one of my favorite TCs. 6,5 Okay, I'll take that. Hoping that you'll like the next one better! I appreciate the explanations too because that always helps me... Crystal - MOR3 ( It seems like she's always a bit OTT and a bit CP at the same time. This time I was waffling between OTT and MOR the most, since she was portrayed pretty one-note, but then again she also gave some insight about her strategy so I think MOR fits better. OTT is fine though ) I agree with this. My intended rating was OTT for her but most people have just given her MOR, so I'll probbaly end up going with that. I'm definitely giving her M though. Dan - UTR2 ( Great final cooldown IMO ) Well, I'm 99% sure he'll end up with a MORP2, so I'm not sure if that's still a cooldown or not. Jacquie - CP4 ( I was struggling with the tone here, but I thought that she was portrayed calm and analytic throughout the episode, not in too positive or in too negative light ) I agree with this. Paloma - OTTN2 ( She was a total non-entity for all the episode and then when she finally spoke at the council she was portrayed in extremely negative light and as a plain idiot. Kinda unusual edit, and I considered UTRN, UTRNN and OTTNN too after deciding to go with OTTN ) I think OTTN is best, just because she really had no insight to balance it out and she was quite a presence at Tribal Council - more than UTRN would warrant. 1. Dan Lately he's been the nice guy who doesn't overthink the game yet knows a lot about it. Like Aras/Yul/Earl 2. Charlie Then again Charlie has gone in to more strategic edit, where he's always thinking the game and maybe being even too strategic. Like Rob C/Rafe/Stephen I like the comparisons that you came up with there. I'd say those are pretty accurate. GC - I keep eliminating him, because the way I see it the winner would never be so unimportant early on. He began to get involved in the story around ep7, and even if his numbers may seem OK the winner's story begins in eps 1 or 2. I'll be disappointed if he wins I'd say that's a valid point, but I will say that I think he had some earlier scenes that people might be forgetting about. The one that comes to mind is the start of Episode 3 with Crystal. But you're right that Dan and Charlie do have much more complete stories. Even Randy does, despite his negativity... Thanks for all of your great comments - I appreciate it! :) I personally think it would be a stupid move, assuming that my players are as strategic and game-saavy as they usually are. Someone please tell me why it's a stupid move for them and I will give you imaginary points. :) I don't know if anyone has answered this already (I don't read other people's responces because I don't have the time), but it would give Jacquie the chance to be the swing vote again between G. C. and Randy/Charlie and Paloma. OMG, do I get imaginary points?! Yes, I'll give you some imaginary points for that. I wasn't necessarily thinking of Jacquie being the swing vote again, but Paloma/Charlie would be an obvious tight pair at that point, and if they got rid of Dan, G.C./Randy/Jacquie could join up again and go 3-2 against C/P. It's the exact same situation as Tocantins right now, if you think about it. Stephen/JT are the obvious pair in control. So Erinn/Coach/Taj should join up as three against them and take them out. But I seriously doubt it will happen. It's another example of how my players generally make more game-changing moves instead of just sitting back and letting people control them. I bet Taj and Erinn do nothing to change their fate. One of the things that stuck out to me this episode how Dan had to help Charlie make a fire... Does that mean that Dan is the one keeping Charlie in the game? Hrm... The greater symbolism of the scene was that Charlie starting the fire renewed his time in the game and kept his fire lit longer. Overall, it was a good episode for me, but I didn't like some of the parts of it. I was pleasantly surprised with the votes, but I felt uncomfortable reading the Paloma/Randy exchange at tribal council. I wasn't personally offended or anything, but it was what made the episode a nine for me instead of a ten. I get why it needed to be in there though. If I hadn't said it before (am I the only one like this?): Dan/Charlie/Jacquie/Paloma LOVE. Seriously, these were like my favorite people from this season lol. Thanks. I can understand feeling that way about the Randy/Paloma part at TC. I'm glad that so many of your favorites have stuck around right til the end. Most people are not liking those four as much due to them being more boring than Randy/Crystal/Ace etc., so you're kindof alone in that right now. 9 (see above for my reason). The chart is particularly interesting this week because I think this is the most your ratings have varied from the "consensus" - not significantly, but just little things like Jacquie being CPP over CP or Paloma being OTTN over UTRN. I think Dan and G.C.'s edits are the most different, just by a quick glance. I know I've said before that you haven't given Dan as many Ps, but G.C. is more MORish on your chart. It's not that I wouldn't want to write Tocantins, there's just a few things that I have to consider: 1) Every season, I'm getting less and less time to actually write these stories. I was in Grade 11 when I wrote Guatemala and now I'm going into my fourth year of university. I used to be able to write an episode in 4 days; now it's usually about 7-9 days. 2) I've had a cast constructed for almost 2 years now that I really like and I would love to actually write it into a story. I think there's a great variety of characters that people would get behind, and I think you would enjoy reading a completely new season. 3) I didn't plan out Tocantins before the actual season aired, so if I try to write one now, it would be influenced by the real show and every other season has been planned long in advance. This is the biggest reason why I don't think I'll do Tocantins. 4) I'm actually strongly considering doing a fanfic for The Amazing Race in the upcoming future, even though I never thought I would ever do this before. It would be something different, and it should be interesting to read. And I figure that most of the people who read this story watch both shows, so hopefully I would keep most of the same audience and pick up a few readers from the TAR forum.

LMAO! I looooove Randy. He was so amazing this episode and it looks like he'll be even more amazing next episode. His destroying the idol while Jacquie was talking about how much she wanted the idol was like something out of a Greek tragedy. Thank you!!! Next episode will be another great one for Randy. He turns the personal attacks back onto C/D/P, and there's a great that I love with Randy, Charlie, and Dan! I appreciate the comment about Randy and the idol too. :) And Jacquie is way better than I ever gave her credit for! I love 4-3 votes at F7. She's been underestimated as a player, for sure. Still not the best character, though, but I like her as playing an "Eve"-like role, which is what her story is supposed to be. And Dan has a million lives, jeez! Honestly, I have hated him all season but the fact that he has played the Eliza game and escaped the vote so often ALMOST makes me like him. And I like that I was right... Crystal's turning did indeed keep her from getting to the F5. Sad to hear that you have hated Dan all season, but I'm glad that you're coming around to liking him... Thanks again for commenting!
