This crab dip recipe is awesome hot or cold. Serve with crackers, pita, or mini ryes ... whatever ... it's delish.
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened 1 teaspoon lemon juice 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce 2 cloves garlic, minced 2 green onions, chopped 6 ounces imitation crabmeat, diced 1 pinch salt 1 pinch ground black pepper

If you liked Ash's black bean dip idea, you can make a bowl of homemade hummus (sp?) to go with it. Real easy:
1-2 cans chick peas (drained) 2-3 cloves garlic juice of 1 lemon olive oil dash of cumin, salt, etc to taste I just kind of eyeball it, don't have specific measurements per se. Just blend the chick peas, lemon and garlic and a bit of oil in a cuisinart/food processor, then add more oil if it's too sticky. You can add as much garlic as you or your guests can stand, the more the better. Cumin is the finishing touch. Blend until smooth. Some people use Tahini but I find it kind of flattens the taste, cumin is better and gives it a light smoky flavour. Then you serve it in a big bowl with wedges of pita for dipping and maybe some crisp raw veggies like carrots and cucumbers. Goes great alongside a black bean dip with blue corn taco chips. Mmmmm. kaizer have you ever made homemade pita chips for your hummus? cut into triangles, toss with olive oil and salt & pepper, and/or seasonings, like
garlic/onion powder.. then bake @ 375, carefully, until they're crisp. deee-licious, and a great way to use pita that's on it's way to the garbage
prosciutto-wrapped pears are great too, azc, my mom used to make them for me because I hate melon, as in the classic prosciutto e melone |

Go with a fruit plate. Strawberries are in season now, and are fabulous. Melon balls, grapes, pineapple pieces. I made one last week, and it was a crowd
favorite.
What the hell, hit Sam's Club. They have all kinds of frozen stuff. Pizza rolls, mini corn dogs, tacquitos. A nice dipping bread plate is good, too. Some great big bread cubes and seasoned olive oil. But it can be a mess. |
