Adam fans are already whining that the show is fixed, etc. etc,. And I'm not naive. I have no doubt that the show's producers would be very happy to rig the results, IF they could get away with it. But I don't think they can. One peep from some disgruntled employee would get the show instantly cancelled and trigger massive lawsuits. It's just too dangerous. That's why they bother to do all the pimping, the extra airtime for the chosen ones, and so on.

So why then was Adam in the bottom 2? I certainly didn't expect this to ever happen. But here's a few theories:

1) As discussed here a few pages ago, there's a richness lacking in his voice.

2) He is getting predictable. He almost always sings high and tries for the glory note. We've seen this before in singers as varied as Clay and Anwar. Adam is often very good at this but having seen it one time too many, people now know what to except, which cuts into his appeal as an "unpredictable" performer.

3) His butchering of genres does bother people. When he did Ring Of Fire, he absolutely refused to to even TRY to sing country. And this week, he did nothing remotely resembling a rat pack performance. This caught up with Chris Daughtry and it has now finally caught up with Adam, at least to a degree. It isn't discussed much in sucks, but I don't think the typical Idol viewer likes to see singers putting themselves above the show's requirements as if they think they are too good to work within the rules.

4) People are just getting tired of his gayness and his ego.
