Adam's phone call to the Upright Cabaret last night

Maybe this is more appropriate in the "who's the most marketable thread", but unlike some past winners Adam could do very well overseas -
especially in the UK - something that Simon is well aware of

Tatiana, I honestly don't think Simon wants that but they all pimped Ghoulie so hard early on that they're left without a strong contender who can even
mount an interesting finale against Adam at the moment. They know that Ghoulie can at least get the religious right and southern conservative types to vote for
him. He can get votes but he won't make the AI label money.
But notice Simon's praise for Kris and Allison. If either give two brilliant performances the next 2 weeks, Ghoulie gets tossed aside. I work in the business and know that AI needs an exciting finale week because ads sell as much as Superbowl ads. So they need the appearance of having someone who can give Adam a run for his money. Right now, that seems to be the early-touted Ghoulie. |

I can only keep hoping Chokey goes because he makes my skin crawl. He always looks so disheveled and greasy - kind of like he's just fallen off the couch
after weekend of watching sports and eating Cheetos.

Sorry, the Danny blobfish is on the Danny Hate Thread. I sometimes overlap my love of Adam and my hate of Danny in one post. Like Allison and Kris too.

I hope MAdam does sing "Feelin' Good" tomorrow. I love George Michael's version.

I can imagine Adam just killing it! Can't wait for 2 songs, this week. Oh, and if rock week is coming, I hope we are not subjected to "Gokey rock"! |

I want to reply to hootie's comment re: Gokey rock but I think it's better suited for Danny's hate thread. So I will just say that I am a leetle
bit worried if Adam sings "Feelin' Good" -- didn't that song take out two of the AI6 contestants in the semis? Then again, neither of them
were Adam.
Monday afternoon taking a break from job applying Adam love! <3 |

I have my doubts, as outlined below, and I see dark horse Kris moving up.....eeeep!
My post from another thread: Can anyone on AI even come close to Bublé and GM versions though, really? Tough call. I'm not sure. Not only that, but Adam is also in danger in the sense that he's held to a higher standard than the other contestants. There are always high expectations for the "wow" factor (whether it's "wow, that was amazing" or "wow, that sucked incredibly"), people expect a polarizing performance from him. If he just does a decent one, it could be seen as a fail. Matt has reminded me vaguely of Buble at one point. He could do very well with jazz. Same with Kris, who has a nice, easy going charm. Whoa, apparently Michael Slezak and I are on the same wavelength: http://popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/ 2. Adam Lambert: (Last week: No. 1) Hasn't had a single bad (or even middling) performance in seven weeks of the season 8 finals -- something none of his competitors can boast! -- and his "Mad World" and "Tracks of My !%%!%" have arguably been the season's most gripping performances. Biggest challenge for Glambert, in fact, is that he's set the bar so high with his unbridled theatricality and manic energy, that anything less than a show-stopper can seem like something of a let-down. The crown is still his to lose, but if there was ever a week for a switcheroo at the top of the Idol Power List, you've got to admit it'd have to follow his slightly sleepy "If I Can't Have You." ETA: I can no longer watch this show objectively, apparently. I thought Adam's IICHY was so incredibly beautiful, and Kris' performance was.....pleasant, but nothing out of the ordinary. And yet, I'm reading the opposite reaction from most....hmmmmmm

If it makes you all feel better, I could see Adam doing VERY well with a Variety Show of some sort (on Bravo or Logo mayhaps?) where he dresses up in drag and
sings songs and dances and screams and has guests and all that.
There's no denying the boy (or anyone else in the Top 13) can sing. But you all also need to realize that on this show, they're singing other people's music. And a lot of those songs are very popular or are songs people haven't heard since they first came out. And they'll download based on the song or singer. People on the show will sing (if they're smart, which Adam is) what will get them the votes. There's no guarantee that his album will be anything remotely close to anything he's done on the show. And that could be a good thing or a bad thing. In MY opinion (and it's just an opinion - don't freak out!) he doesn't have the "IT" to really make it as a serious artist. His first album's sales might do well on people's curiosity, but in the end (IN MY OPINION) he'll be looked at as the guy on AI and never be taken seriously enough to go as far as someone like Carrie and break free of AI's hold and start winning big awards. And a 73yo man can say he thinks someone is the beston the show, but they're not gonna buy an "Adam Lambert Dresses and Sings Like Liza Minnelli" album. (What? I had to say SOMEthing stupid!) |

SonOfAbraxas wrote: Completely, absolutely agree - with the bolded part. They're singing songs that were popular and beloved already. It's easy for a good singer to sound great - and for the audience to have an emotional connection with the music. The recording studio is a whole different ball of wax. Alot of Adam's success will depend on the shit (or otherwise) he's given in the studio. And now I'm getting off the damn computer and thinking about something else. |

Your quote is from before I edited "it" to "they" - edit your copy too! (it's in your bolded part) I really should read what I type before I hit post. (UNLESS IT"S ADAM HATRED!!! I DON"T WANT TO WASTE MY TIME PROOFREADING ANYTHING ADAM RELATED! EW GROSS!) |

the only thing that worries me about adam is exactly what someone mentioned in a post above which is that he has set the bar so high for himself. every week i
have such high expectations about his performance and usually i'm more than satisfied, but i still worry that some people might start expecting too much or
be disappointed. there's NO DOUBT he's a better singer than the other contestants, but even perfection can get old. i hope he continues to strive for
originality via re-working the songs into something that you'd want to listen to over and over again (Born to be Wild was cool to watch, but i don't
really want to listen to that again. Mad World - i can't stop listening to...). kris allen is showing us that he's surprisingly good at re-working an
old song into something cool (ex. "she works hard for the money") and adam really needs to put most of his focus on that because i think everyone
would agree that his singing ability is not something he needs to prove at anymore.
