Stephen and JT have become like a winner split into two halves. Like twins, I'm starting to expect them to finish each others sentences.

Trixi, I see your take on JT and why he could be our winner. But, I've come away from my second watch still strongly backing a Stephen win. It really comes down to an interpretation of subtleties between the two.

This episode seems loaded with tie-ins to past statements. The key one to me is "trust", from Sierra repeating Erinn's Ep2 warning to Debbie, to Coach echoing JT's "100% trust" of Stephen, only it is Coach speaking of his trust in JT.

but IMO there is no question that the editors could have done more damage to JT by going on a feast and then sitting out a crucial IC to eat again. Does it mean he wins, absolutely not - would that suggest that his chances of being in the final TC are good - absolutely.
Stephen's edit - same thing. He definitely has a arrogant tinge to him but they are balancing it with self deprecation and humor to mask it a bit and when you have off the charts arrogance by Tyson and Coach, well Stephen is as mild as Clark Kent.

but at the same time they gave a line to JT about the amount of food - first thing on the reward, and they could have used a confessional where he says something about the cultural experience - I beleieve he must have said soomething positive, but they prefer to dedicate the reward to Erinn and Debbie; and they could have inserted his comment about why he chose to eat instead of compete - they didi it with Todd. Again, stephen said about not having anything to eat on Exile Island, so he had an excuse...

I agree with you; they could have, should have but again forget what they have done with other people in past shows. Sometimes you can use that as a basis for comparison but they are still different people with different situations and a different outcome; you can't blanket edit. However, why didn't JT get a confessional about being on the reward - he is obviously someone the producers like - they practically built a shrine to him in the prior episode and Brendan was specifically shown to observe that watching JT doing something he's never done was a joy to watch. They downplayed him at this food reward and downplayed his role in eating at the IC. All he got was a small comment. The fact that this is being questioned should suggest that it was being manipulated. Why Erinn and Debbie? Could be a number of reasons. First and foremost to me - BOUT TIME! These two are at least in the final seven coming out of that episode - it was a perfect opportunity to reveal more about them on a personal level and Erinn was choice material as well because she herself told us she has never gotten a reward and they were not going to pass up an opportunity to show someone overindulging and feeling crappy; it's a good television moment. Both of these women are going to be crucial - the numbers at this very moment say that - I'm glad they didn't ignore them. Erinn was pivotal in this episode - we needed to see her more and Debbie is going to become more involved (she is now vulnerable as the previews show) plus who is going to pass up a heartfelt scene with her and the children.

But Jason from what I remember did not get the same edit that Sierra got this episode, not even close

*You* might ask why that is? I love reading Edgic but the codes are beyond me. The fact there is so much debate over Sierra's "coding" probably should suggest that sometimes you can't really apply one to someone. People who have said that Sierra was not pure positive (is that what your "P" means? are right. Those of you who are saying that Seirra was not "N" (presumably negative?) are right. This was a very convoluted edit for Sierra so I certainly am questioning it as the post quoted questions. You can't really put a blanket "positive" or "negative" for Sierra on this episode - could we at times be led to sympathize with her with the cheesy music and scenes - yes. Were we supposed to be glad that Tyson got shafted after all the scenes in the show - yes. Sierra was more or less the byproduct and whether you thought she was negative, pathetic or whatever (which at times I agree with those assessments) you weren't supposed to want her gone per se because there was a big bad there that was supposed to be tossed. BUT, the editors could have made Sierra far worse and they didn't.

Let's face it, Sierra (the REAL Sierra) is not a sweet person, she doesn't have much of a personality - she reminds me sooo much in looks and personality of Meredith Grey - somewhat flat personality and expression and the editors can't change that but they can change things surrounding the character - the question is why did they go to the trouble to do that for Sierra?
