Name one single diva who got "screwed over" in a season where another diva didn't win and explain said screwage. Syesha? Happy Feet Song? Constant "meh" from judges on a weekly basis? k i win. |

I don't think Syesha can be classified as one though. She had more of a bubblegum pop singer vibe than a "diva".
And the "screwing over" she got last season probably did more good to her if anything. Had she gotten generic "good" criticisms every week, I doubt she would have propelled all the way to the final three. |

Even if Syesha was a diva does it really count as being screwed over if you make it to Top 3? Being screwed over generally means you didn't make it as far
as you should/could have. Syesha made it far past where she should have.
She was never going to beat the David's for a spot in the Top 2 regardless of what song she chose, it could have been a theme from the Barney soundtrack or a hoedown and it wouldn't have mattered in the slightest. |

Syesha was consistently very good or at the very least okay. She was never bad. Therefore, she deserved to get at least as far as she did... The idea that she was "never going to beat the David's for a spot in the Top 2" is a reflection of how she was screwed over. If all three of them had gotten accurate praise/criticism throughout the competition, perhaps Syesha would have had a chance to beat one of them. Instead, TCO 1.0 (Archuleta) and TCO 2.0 (Cook) got all the pimpage and Syesha was never allowed to develop as a threat to them. |

I disagree, Syesha would NEVER had beaten the David's no matter what the judges said or did. They could have given her a standing ovation Top 3 night and
all 3 of them could have said Syesha deserves to win and still the F2 would have been David vs David.
They pimped the fuck of those 2 but they didn't even need too. They were easily the most popular and ran away with the competition. |

If Syesha is as good as you keep going on about, where is her recording contract? I haven't heard a thing about her since the season ended except for
reading about her here. Did she get signed? Does anyone know? Acting? I know she wanted to be an actress too. Anyone know?

According to Wikipedia she's working on a Pop/R&B album in LA and in her spare time she's taking acting classes.
Personally I think she should be a model so people can enjoy her visual beauty and not have to hear her sing or speak. |

She had a Billboard interview on AI Extra.
She "claims" to be working on her album (with really famous producers/writers) Also looking at scripts for a movie. I'm sure none of this will see the light of day though. And yes, part of the reason Season 7 was boring is b/c David vs David was inevitable after TOP 10 week (if not a little before) |

I think it was great that Syesha made it to the final 3 on her own merit. She didn't have that strong of a fanbase to begin with, was put in the bottom two
every week, and she was constantly ridiculed by the judges. Sure she was pretty generic but at least she kept it consistent throughout the competition until
Happy Feet (although I thought she did as good of a job than one can do with that song).

If the judges' commentary had been reasonable, accurate and not so manipulative, the two David's may not have grown into the unstoppable forces they became. seaguy wrote: I DON'T think Syesha is that good. I think she was consistently decent. I just ALSO don't think the David's walk on water. Porkchop was pretty "meh" throughout (no better than Syesha on average) with a few real clunkers thrown in. Cookie had moments of greatness, but also a few weeks where he was terrible. I do think Cook deserved to win, but that doesn't mean he wasn't overpraised a few times along the way. I think that it was probably about right that Syesha finished third, but that doesn't mean she wasn't underpraised a few times along the way. And, Sea, you should know as well as anybody that success is not the true measure of talent. There are some truly talented people out there without deals and some worthless people who can't sing their way out of a paper bag who have them - and who do pretty damn well. Honestly, do you think that Jennifer Hudson (perhaps the best singer this show has ever had) would have gotten a recording contract and actually put out an album if not for her success with Dreamgirls? I don't. |

The two David's were unstoppable. The judges did not have to push as hard as they did. The judges could have praised Syesha all along (I don't think she warranted it) and it still wouldn't have mattered. Syesha wasn't going to be F2 and I question whether or not she actually made it to the F3 on votes anyway. |

I agree about good people not finding success. But several third place finishers have gotten a deal. I've not heard a peep about her, and she had the
largest platform in the world to be discovered and nothing as of yet. With shows like this, your shelf life is very limited, and her time is running out.
Even people like Bucky and Elliott who many never thought would amount to anything after the show, have had pretty decent success. Jennifer was an anomoly. I
never thought she'd be seen again for the same reason I mentioned above...the shelf life of success from this show is very limited for most of the
performers. Jennifer got really lucky and I'm thankful for that.

suckshardcore wrote: I'm not talking necessarily about praising Syesha more -- I'm talking about NOT praising the David's when their performances [frequently] didn't warrant it. Maybe you are right. Maybe if the judges had pointed out every time the David's were bad or didn't gush when they were just okay, they still would have picked up an unstoppable fan base. We don't KNOW that, though, and never will. It is all conjecture because all we can base it on is what happened when the judges DID pimp the hell out of Archie all along and Cookie after "Hello". The scenario is pretty close to the Season 2 model when everybody assumed that Clay and Ruben were unstoppable, but as it turns out, the difference in votes on top 3 night was not insurmountable and probably could have been changed if the judges had judged differently... |

We don't know that Syesha would have benefited either.
Also I'm not saying the David's (particularly one David) were not overpraised by the judges frequently. I think David C deserved most of the praise he got, although as always the judges had to go OTT. Like instead of saying "that was a really good job" Randy has to act like the person is the greatest thing since sliced bread and be like "omg dude, dawg, that was a hot lava bomb man" etc. David A on the other hand was frequently overpraised and the judges rarely criticized him when he deserved it. That said I don't think there was any stopping his rabid fanbase, his fanbase was developing before his audition was even shown on the show and before people even knew he'd be the early chose one. |

Syesha was amazing. I wasn't really a fan during the season, but in hindsight she should've made final 2. She had many, many great performances and all
of her performances were pretty much knock-outs (in a good way) from F6 all the way to F3. Not to mention even before that, she had a lot of great ones like
"Yesterday", and "Tobacco Road". And I personally liked her Mariah week/Top 20 performances.

Syesha is currently recording songs for her debut album. Syesha is working with the songwriters (Scott Cutler and Anne Preven) who wrote Beyoncé's "Listen" from the "Dreamgirls" Soundtrack. She is also working with Babyface producers. Syesha is working with some heavy hitters... Grammy Award winning songwriters and producers. Syesha is now living in L.A. but, she also spends a lot of time flying back & forth to NYC from L.A. Syesha has also been reading scripts and she has been at various rehearsals. |
