Finally, a talking head willing to put their money where their mouth is. (I better see him cracking up the Senate with his sarcasm, or I'll be slightly peeved) |

He's my state's new Senator because Norm Coleman is a douchebag.
He hangs his hat of bringing hockey back to Minnesota, and he did that as a Democrat. He switched over to right when he figured out he wouldn't be able to beat Skip Humphries in the 1998 governors race. Oddly enough, both of them were such big douches that people here decided it was better to put a fuckin pro wrestler into the office. As stated earlier, he would have lost the 2002 Senate election to Paul Wellstone, but Wellstone died and was replaced by Mondale, who still barely lost to Coleman. So yeah, Franken won because Coleman is a two-faced douche. |

it's the black knight:
MINNEAPOLIS -- Lawyers for Republican Norm Coleman are beginning the process of appealing his election-lawsuit loss to Democrat Al Franken. They say they will file an appeal Monday afternoon with the Minnesota Supreme Court. The effort will seek to overturn a decision by a special three-judge panel that Franken came out 312 votes ahead of Coleman in the November election. The former senator contents that local officials used inconsistent standards for deciding whether voters complied with absentee ballot rules. The panel ruled last week that local officials used reasonable latitude in running the election, and that equal protection under the law doesn't require "rigid sameness." The appeal process could take weeks or longer. Minnesota has been down to just one U.S. senator since Congress convened in January. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) According to the DVD audio commentary (Cleese, Palin, Idle audio track), the sequence originated in a story told to Cleese when he was attending an English class during his school days. Two Roman wrestlers were engaged in a particularly intense match and had been fighting for such a substantial length of time that the match had degraded to the two combatants doing little more than leaning into one another with their body weight. When one wrestler finally tapped-out and pulled away from his opponent, it was only then that he and the crowd realized the other man was, in fact, dead and had effectively won the match posthumously. The moral of the tale, according to Cleese's teacher, was that, "If you never give up, you can't possibly lose" - a statement that, Cleese reflected, always struck him as being "philosophically unsound".
