Aside from Mantasia, Lil is easily the worst black female finalist Idol has ever had. You can feel sorry for her AFTER she gets voted off tomorrow. Not before. She was hyped like crazy but NEVER had a really good performance.

Now to my main point. The Carol Smith garbage wasn't funny when Vonzell was on the show, and it still isn't 4 years later. Vonzell was a run of the mill R&B vocalist, nothing more or less. Even during her season Nadia sounded more white when singing than she did (Nadia even did a Paul McCartney song!). The whole Carol Smith thing SEEMS like some sort of expression of black pride but it's actually just a racist white idea of how blacks are SUPPOSED to look, behave, etc. The fact that many blacks buy into it, and figure that any black who is well spoken, middle class, has parents married to each other, etc. is acting "white" just means that they like the whole ghetto mentality that has helped keep so many blacks poor, fatherless, addicted to drugs and violence, and on and on. I say it's shit.
