You can just click on the little minus sign at the upper right hand corner of the post to avoid having to scroll past it. I'm sure they'll do it on
this page too.

The contrast between JT and Stephen's edit is really telling.
When JT confronts Coach, he says that 'Stephen is a good guy' and that he 'trusts Stephen 100%' Then, juxtapose that with Stephen, who upon hearing that JT is being targeted, has a confessional where he says 'this is terrible for ME'. The entire time, JT has been edited to be about honesty, hard-work, honesty. Stephen has been strategy, game-play, strategy. The first episode, it was all about Stephen and what he thought of JT-- Stephen has been edited to be WAY more complex, a way more cerebral character. Though he personally is smart, thinks about the end-game, and has racked up a few CPs, JT as a character isn't complex. He either trusts your or he doesn't. JT is being set up for a huge blindside. The whole season has lead up to it. I wouldn't even be surprised if it happened next episode, when Brendan and Stephen talk and Stephen realizes that he votes out JT, then he, Erinn, Taj, Brendan and Sierra can run the game. Will this happen? I'm not sure. My guess is one of either Erinn or Sierra are in the final two. Both are in good positions right now game-wise. Erinn isn't alligned with anyone, which means she's safe when one of alliances cannibalizes another/itself next episode. They both aren't immunity threats. I could see either pulling a Susie and sneaking into the finals and losing. As of now, my bet would be on Sierra. Erinn's story has been about beating Tyson/Coach, and my guess is that she is instrumental in their downfall. If she had gone farther, she would have commented more on Joe, but that could be saved for next episode. Sierra has had a little bit more of an end-game story, a little bit of a better edit. Her comment at the post-merge feast, though idiotic to us survivor aficionados, I think was edited to be inquisitive and cutting, not bumbling. Stephen was edited to be taken back by it. This was an extemporaneous scene, included for no immediate purpose (except to paint the Sierra character as being in tune with the game). Sierra seems like the quintessential survivor runner-up - thus ending the 'Sierra redeems herself socially' storyline from episode one. (predictions) (the two givens- erinn has to outlast coach/tyson, stephen has to outlast jt) Tyson Coach Debbie Brendan Erinn JT Taj Sierra Stephen As a side-note, and I know this has nothing to do with Edgic, but I wanted to say how much I've liked this season, especially compared to Gabon. The cast of Gabon was terrible, and the show more closely resembled 'Flavor of Love' or another stupid VH1 show. The cast was all ridiculous, unlikable, and fought with each other mercilessly. It was fun to watch on a superficial level, like watching a car crash. The reason why survivor is the only reality show I watch with any regularity is because of the game-play. I put up with the corny soundtrack (gongs, loons, etc), ridiculous animal imagery, and stupid 'family from home' episodes to see people actually try to outwit, outplay and outlast each other. Last season, people just fought with each other and shunned strategy. This season, not only are all the people fairly smart, but I like them as characters too. There hasn't been too many fights over stupid things (no GC-like flip-outs because nature is too difficult), and all the early pre-merge boots were throwaway characters (I haven't missed anyone so far). So, congrats casting department! |

JT as a character isn't complex. He either trusts your or he doesn't. This is what has to have some kind of resolution and it's unlikely to be a good one for JT. Great post, Splotch! I watch Survivor for the same reasons, but I also think the editing is among the best. (Even when I complain about it.) And I love the imagery. What other program has visuals on the level of Survivor? :)) |

sploch, I agree and disagree with you at the same time in regards to JT. I do think there is a complex edit there in the character's simplicity and
honesty. If say he won, and it was all wrapped around in his truth, word, etc. -it would make sense that he would be edited to NOT know what is going on
entirely -that he is in same sort of danger. There should on a 101 level be a hurdle for him to have to get over -right now the hurdle is being outnumbered
-underlined by his confessionals in the merge episode -all 612 of them. And then the next edited story hurdle would be Stephen having the edge over him, hence
more danger. Now I could be wrong -I never pegged Brian as the winner because there wasn't any edited hurdle for him -maybe his rich wife and life in the
video.
However, if JT does not make the endgame and goes in the next few episodes, I get his edit also -that he is just a really good guy that gave his all, the kind that Burnett loves and wants to bestow a glowing edit on. If JT makes the endgame though with Stephen, I fully expect JT to "wise" up and be the one holding all the cards. |

Merge Ratings Coach OTT ![]() ![]()
I voted OTTN at the site, but really, his idiocy is just OTT. He's gonna keep the alpha males for some sort of righteous warrior battle?? (Oh, but of course, vote Brendan off asap.) Oh lord... Brendan MOR3
Maybe he's our winner who's being hidden behind the distraction of the plots against him. Mmmm...... nah. Debra UTR1 ![]() ![]()
You go girl! Honestly, how has everyone not come down with dysentery every season? Erinn MOR2 ![]()
She wanders over to tree mail with Joe. Repeats that the hole in the statue is empty. Then tells us that the plan is take out Sierra and Brendan and then it's game on. So, so, so sad.... JT CP5 ![]() ![]()
He mirrors his twin Stephen, as the city mouse and country mouse put their heads together to weather the mighty onslaught of Terrible Timbera (and I do mean terrible!). I'd list the trust speehes and statements he makes, but, no time. Must move on. Joe MOR2
"This sucks, man!" You tell'um, Joe! Sierra UTR1 ![]()
The Merge feast scene was her worst moment. Better that she's been INV tis ep than to ask her Super-Secret-Exile Alliance + 1 how they arrived at boot votes. Stephen CP4 ![]() ![]()
He continues with an edit that should be scaring the guano outta Edgic players. Desperate, worried, confused, going with his gut. How can he survive??!! Taj MOR3
Taj's story was over with the merge. Any hint as to a car reward?? Tyson OTTN ![]() ![]()
Tyson, you are a mean, cruel, weird, bad, bad boy! Tyson will be playing all next week at Yuk-Yuks. Winner: Stephen Not enough for me to jump ship this ep. He continues to get lots of doubt mixed with excellent game complexity.
Runner Up: JT His edit has risen from MOR to CP over the last two eps. An excellent winner pattern. He was twinned with Stephen in the Merge ep. His confessionals were all spot-on about the game, what his situation was and what and why he had to do what he did. But, he has a very strong theme of trust that will require this to be a season of the winner walking on water to make it to the end.
(You see how much I've written about the "runner-up". Hah! I'm such an Ozzy, Scout, Amanda China sorta voter. Don't listen to me!) Fading into the Distance: Brendan Still more of his "strong contender" on the surface and "MOR edit" where CP is required deeper down. Sierra Man, what a bad merge ep. And another UTR1. Her story was over at Ep2, when she was saved from being booted. Do you ever show the winner saying, "Whatever happens happens..."? Done or Barely Breathing: Coach Tyson Taj Debbie Erinn |

flf, great summary.
yeah, it really does seem like the most care has been given to the whole city mouse meets the country mouse angle. It would be a shame if one knocks out the other instead of the feel good theme of two people from different walks of life putting their heads together for a common good. I'm putting odds on this being the story that goes the distance -and in that case, does it matter which one wins? It'll be presented as a heart warming end -ala Ozzy/Yul, Bob/Sugar. If it doesn't work out this way, then I'm predicting JT or Stephen does NOT take out the other, but forces of numbers take out one of them -banking it would be JT's demise and Stephen carries the torch to the win, endowing him with the outdoor knowledge JT bestowed on him. |

cl, yeah, it's really a coin-toss between those two to me too at this point.
