I'm sure they change the rules based on things that happen during the course of the most recent Race before setting out on a new one.

Well, the length of the penalty is harsh and we all know many things deserved to be penalized in the past, but is it not possible that the rules change season
to season? Lots of things have changed on the Race that we don't know about unless Phil says on-screen or Racers mention it. Otherwise it's up to
them. We have no access to the official rulebook.

The penalty M&M got was really ridiculous and unfair considering Keisha&Jen ran off without paying the cab driver at all, and they get no penalty
whatsoever, I just do not see the logic behind that. That basically means that if you're low on cash you shouldn't try to pay as much as you can to the
driver, but instead you should run away and try to lose him...and somehow that's fine.

Jonathan gave away candy that he'd brought, but got nothing in exchange.Marisa/Brooke offered candy to the ticket agent on the way to Fortaleza in exchange for better service - they should both be disqualified, Anthony/Stephanie brought back and the whole season repeated from Leg 2 onwards because of this outrage!1!!!!! |

Why do they get past Leg 4 when they pay their own possession (Mark and Michael) and not receiving penalties? Amanda and Kris should have survived!! So many
rules!

and no they're not making up rules during the race. the rules are already laid out before the race started. the racers are aware of it. so again rules <3 rules RULES! |

Well, afaik the cab driver that followed them during the karaoke task never agreed to do it for free and when they didn't see him after the task they just
took off. Maybe he just got stuck in some traffic light and would've been there any second, we'll never know. It was pretty stupid of the driver to
agree to follow them though without getting paid first when he had none of their stuff, so it was in K&J's best interest if he just got lost, that
doesn't make it ok though.

Here's what I don't get. If one rule says that, when paying for a cab, you must use only cash, but another rule says you are allowed to ask for and
accept a free cab ride, why didn't these guys ask for free rides, or rides at a reduced rate (e.g., we have only 200 baht, will you take that instead of
the 300 your normally charge?). I ask because it seems to me if these two knuckleheads were really aware of the rules, they would have asked for a reduced
fare. That they did not implies they either forgot or were unaware of the cash-only rule.

TPTB just made up their loss of eliminating Mel/Mike last leg by placing these Tweedles in an extra 4 hour penalty thus finishing a guaranteed last.

An airport equalizer at the beginning of the next leg will even the playing field again and the length or validity of the penalty will no longer be an issue.

I remember back in EP 3 or 4 of TAR7 on the DVD extras, it showed Meredith/Gretchen trying to pay for their cab with Meredith's watch because they
didn't have enough money. I don't remember if the cabbie took it or just let them pay what they had, but that is an instance where if they did, nothing
happened.

Regardless of the rules being new to us, all of the racers had to know the rules beforehand. Either they didn't read the rules well enough, skimmed over them, or forgot them. Whichever it was, they had to have been informed when the race began. PLUS, DON'T EVEN STICK UP FOR THESE MIDGETS! If they had been two minutes slower we would still have our dear sweet blondes. </3 |

^ Exactly. And they didn't seem shocked that they got in trouble or protest not knowing the rules. They just accepted their fat and sat their tiny little
asses over in the grass to wait for their sentencing to a Speed Bump.

There is a rule saying you have to satisfy the bill ... i.e., you can't run off on a cabbie and not pay him. He has to agree to whatever the compensation is. I think this essentially falls under the rule, though, of not being allowed to break laws. And there is a rule saying you cannot barter things you brought into the race with you, only items obtained during the race, in order to ensure fairness to all contestants. |

And there is a rule saying you cannot barter things you brought into the race with you, only items obtained during the race, in order to ensure fairness to all contestants. Which still begs the question why would anyone, including these two, knowingly break the rules? All I'm saying is that these wankers don't appear to be overtly stupid, and thus I'm just questioning whether they were aware of the rule, and if they were, why did they think breaking the rule was better than negotiating a reduced fare? |

They knowingly broke the rules in the last episode by messing with the pumps (the other penalty was a mis-read clue). I think they just didn't think
they'd be called on it. I think they thought that they were absolutely in last place and it didn't matter if they broke a rule because they were out
because they were so far behind.
