Don't let it go to your head, Big Font Boy.Huh, the font doesn't look very big on my monitor; guess I'll put on my glasses. And I plan to use the authority only to stage a coup, revoke the constitution, and abolish the judiciary--nothing more. There've been a number of JT confessionals that follow Stephen/Taj confessionals and make the point that JT is a step behind, and not keeping up with the smart guys' plans. Nothing heavy-handed--just good, subtle editing that has a cumulative effect. |

The original argument was that the editors wouldn't portray a winner as dim... I'd argue that JT isn't being portrayed as dim. This episode especially he was shown as being a step ahead of everyone (except Stephen). He and Stephen were shown to initiate almost every idea and Stephen had no qualms about anything JT said. We didn't get confessionals from Stephen/Taj which contradicted anything JT said. The only real moment I can think of which remotely makes JT look out of the loop is when he finds Taj's hidden immunity idol. However, even in this scene it's not like the Exile Alliance has outsmarted him by any means. He stumbled across the idol, told Stephen and then was approached by Taj about it. Really, it had to be shown (and in the order it was shown) to explain to us the JT/Stephen/Taj alliance. Those were the events which led to the formation of that alliance which has already had immediate effect (Sydney is gone) and probably will have a greater long term effect. This scene made Stephen look very smart (and gave him doubt), so I could see why Stephen may look like a stronger contender. But I think that is by virtue of Stephen getting a better edit and not by JT getting a worse one. |

Huh, the font doesn't look very big on my monitor; guess I'll put on my glasses. You're right! It's 'cause we're all using machines with higher resolutions than what they designed this bboard for, back in the day. Add the wide screen and, voila!, micro-type! |

I wonder if Taj will have the traditional "sassy black chick who falls off the face of the planet at the merge" edit that Cirie and Crystal both had.
Also, GreenCoffee, come back. We miss you. |

He's the only one of the three that wasn't happy about the situation, his cockiness was completely gone. JT was happy, Coach thinks he only has to wait three more days until Brendan goes, Tyson was all "oh crap!" |

Maybe. But that's more Tyson the person. Tyson the Edited Character will probably have lots of arrogant confessionals and only inserted shots and
reaction shots of being blown away when he goes.
Of course, afterwards we'll learn through interviews that he knew he was going, and all his confessionals were clearly tongue in cheek. I love Tyson, but sarcasm and wit don't really go hand in hand in Burnett land. |

I had a big conference trip to Denver that took me out of commission for nearly a week and this week I've been in and out of the doctor's office for evening appointments. Maybe now that my schedule has evened out I'll participate more. Just watched the merge episode. I see three realistic winner possibilities: Stephen/JT (both have pros and cons that complement one another) Brendan (more weaknesses than the other two, but I can still envision an editing scenario where he wins) Probably not: Tyson (unlikely) Erinn (VERY unlikely) Edgically eliminated Debbie Taj Coach Sierra Ultimate fantasy winner: Tyson wins despite overt negativity and becomes the most infamous, yet insanely entertaining winner ever. Logically, I can't explain his edit in Edgic terms and have it come out well. But I'm not so secretly hoping against hope that he wins anyway. Maybe the editors couldn't resist his snarky and OTT confessionals....... maybe...... (but yeah probably not). |

Someone commented (Oo Actually, her death knell was probably the recrap episode where no mention was made of her redemption. Ordinarily, not much store should be placed on recraps but there was no way it wouldn't have warranted a mention, had Sierra won. And I plan to use the authority only to stage a coup, revoke the constitution, and abolish the judiciary--nothing more. Haven't they already done Fiji? Coach then wouldn't vote for JT out of spit. I wouldn't put anyhting past him. |

i think that taks has hit it on the head with regards to JT NOT being portrayed as dim.... and considering the
"stereotype" of the dim country boy, i'm sure the editors could have played it up...along with various bongs and chimes and good ol'c ountry
hillbilly music... which they have neglected to do.
Additionally, in case you missed it...JT is the one who realized that they needed to split the votes.... Stephen only "named" it. Watch that scene again... JT leads Stephen to that conclusion... not the other way around. I don' think that is "dim" |

also, don't forget the bag of rice segment when JT raids Timb's camp -and the importance of needing that food supply. it was far from reported, fluff
confessional. it seemed at the time more about a swap happening, but that was nada and in retrospect give JT tremendous scope about foresight about how to
play the game.

Phoenix1269 wrote:He was shown as dumb in one segment... in episode 6. Where he says he knows Stephen's been honest with him (except we saw the same episode that he wasn't) and that Taj came around and was honest with him (even though she only did it once he found the idol). But I agree, he's the best winner pick now. Agreed with CL's comment to ... odd thing to put in given that there wasn't a switch in the first place. The only detriment is that they showed Sandy questioning why they didn't take all 100 guns, and she ended up being right (and JT wrong). |

chapera rocks wrote: I"ll second CR here except for JT being the best winner pick. It's very subtle but JT is often shown one step behind the action. Coach had to tell him that they were gunnung for him not Joe before JT thought of spliting the votes. Stephen said something about making new allies would still leave those allies in a dominant position and, right after that, we see JT making an alliance with Coach. Even the bag of beans has to be considered like JT being swayed by Debbie and Erinn in leaving them something because there was no swap and Timbira went on a winning streak, using the 25 guns left behind as ammo to kill 3 Jalapenos. I don't see JT winning. ETA: For my ratings, I'll just ditto Warrior. I see it the same way he does except Brendan is my top pick over Stephen and Erinn.

Insider Clips
Can any of the Canadians here view this episode's Insider Clips? I haven't had any trouble this season until this week. Otherwise, I may be forced to go to Spoilers to see if James Barber is still in business doing his transcripts. |

JB is still doing transcripts but since it is spoilers, there are threads labeled "Player X goes far" and if you don't want to be spoiled, you
probably shouldn't even bother. It's just going to ruin Edgic for yourself for the season if you wander in there, because for once they are actually
treating spoilers like a spoilers forum and not censoring titles.

It's a poor alternative, but Reality News Online puts up summaries of all the insider clips during the beginning of the week. They aren't exact
transcripts but they usually convey the general idea.

JT isn't winning.
If he does the editing has been shit. I like a deserving winner, which JT certainly would be. But not an OBVIOUS winner. See: Tom Boring season, I think everyone agrees. If JT gets this kind of "distraction" edit from the merge, only to go on and win, it sucks editing-wise. At least TRY to hide the winner. No need to go to an extreme like Danni/Bob, but damn...JT? Really? His visibility has been through the roof. I hope Stephen wins only because he seems smarter than JT and more weary of his surroundings. JT is smart, but compared to Stephen, he's definitely the "sucker." |

RW, I can pm you James Barbers transcript if you want. Let me know. RVS is right, you probably don't want to venture into the spoiler forum.
