Watch All By Myself and Don't Rain on My Parade. She was so good, and the judges hardly chose her as the diva. Both were not very good and horribly over-praised. "All By Myself" was merely bland. "Don't Rain on My Parade" was actually ghastly, in that the song is all about a quirky, ballsy personality. LaToya failed epically on that one because she never should have done it in the first place. It's a bad fit for her. And then there was also the fact that she completely screwed up the rhythm of the patter from beginning to end. yeah but it's your tastes versus the general concensus

Bad treatment from the judges? Nearly every comment for Elliott was that he "worked it out", "master vocal class", "the only good one was our boy in the back, Elliot". When did they give him a hard time?

It was always just passing comments which none of the judges made a big deal out of. As for everyone else the judge bashing was well grounded. They either really did suck (Jason Castro, Melissa McGhee <sorry but 1 good performance does not equal awesome>) or they were making really bad choices that the judges were severely disappointed by (Jennifer Hudson pre-CoL, Kim Locke before NYSoM, Carly Smithson, Anoop) the only truly biased and unfair treatment of a contestant was Syesha who never got the respect she deserved.

Tabaldo, Alexandria Lushington and Ricky Braddy. My next group is not necessarily by the judges/producers but with the general public going on about a contestant beating another contestant they liked. Worst case of this was John Stevens for outlasting Boomie even if the judges did not like her until "Circle of Life." I also hate the whole Ayla/Melissa debate. They both deserved to be there but TPTB wanted the final six girls to be Katharine, Paris, Kellie, Mandisa, Lisa and Ayla that year. In my opinion the Ayla people should be pissed at Kellie that year. Melissa beat her on singing, but Kellie beat her with a sob story. All of the other females had at least one good song in the semi-finals.

Just go back and listen to how rich and powerful her voice is on those. I'd say she was guilty of "showing off" her instrument. And a lot of people liked her "No One Else On Earth" on country night -hell, she wasn't in the bottom that week. It's true that she hit her singing groove when she did "Circle Of Life". She started controlling her voice better, and not screaming every chance she got, but she did not SUCK prior to that. She was still a much better singer than a lot of them there (cough, John Stevens, cough). She definitely never deserved Simon saying she doesn't belong in the competition. the only truly biased and unfair treatment of a contestant was Syesha who never got the respect she deserved. I do agree with this though. She did get a couple of favorable critiques (yeah, okay, that was good), but the judges never did give her a rave and basically didn't care for her too much. It was all nothing because she picked crappy songs and at that stage of the competition a lot of people saw Boomie as a third rate diva behind Fantasia and LaToya plus at the time Jasmalien and Diana were also considered front runners (this was before their ages slowed them down).

Wow, Jasmine is one of the last people that should be listed in this thread. She was given airtime and did not make it out of the semi-finals. She was put in the wild card round when there were better male and female contestants in the semi-finals. She was put in the top 13 when there were better male and female contestants in the wild card. Then given the chance, the public booted her out first. I would say the public was right and she did not deserve to be there in the first place, so I do not see how the judges/producers screwed her.

I disagree with this. I don't think that Boomie had a single bad performance after Hollywood week. I loved her in Soul week. I loved her in Country week. I wasn't even a huge fan of her and I know that season was a vag-fest, but there was no reason for her to not sing in the Wild Card when they let Matthew Metzger (one of the most over-praised contestants ever). Ricky Braddy got adequate praise but was screwed from the start without the airtime. One that I don't think anyone's mentioned is Nick Pedro. He was pretty unmemorable but had a really good voice. I just think they kind of resented how he had quit the season before and were sort of predisposed against him.

They were just not liked by the audience. I mean, Christ, I loved Melissa McGhee and her boobies, but she flubbed half the lyrics of LATELY. Jason Castro was mediocre, and his biggest talent was looking like a cross between Christian Slater and Nicholas Cage. Frankly, the person whom Simon personally tried most to screw over was Clay +%%**, who made the finals anyway. Simon plays more favorites than anyone. He was anti-Locke. Anti-Boomie. Anti-Gedeon. He's biased against some good singers. He's biased against some mediocre singers. Paula basically screws all the female contestants (and screws an occasional male contestant, Corey?) by overpraising the men all the time. Randy tends to be pretty equal opportunity with his favorites. He's least biased, though his judgment and ear are sometimes questionable. Biggest bias of all is Simon's bias against non-black girls that aren't hot. He can barely bring himself to look at them. Kristen McNamara for one had his hate, because she wasn't hot.

They could've let that bitch sing whatever she wanted and given her tons of praise and she still wasn't going to get anywhere near the finals. She was bland and run of the mill boring. Same with Vonzell who is her twin. Just because you can sing, doesn't mean you are worthy of winning. Notice how those two haven't been heard from since? it's because they are nothing special.
