Totally unfair. When did Adam come out again? He is as silent about it as Clay was, only he isn't getting bashed for it. It used to be that the haters would say Clay didn't deserve to have fans because he was gay. Now Adam gets the open minded treatment and if you don't like the gay guy there's something wrong with you. Nobody is born "out" and nobody has the right to decide when anyone comes out, I'm certainly not criticizing Adam, but the inequity is what pisses me off. If it takes years to be ready to come out then it takes years, so fuck off reggie with your stupid thing about Clay lied for years. As for Adam's "televised" douche-moments...I see them every episode. In his outfits, to his screaming -- thinking that even qualifies as a good performance -- to pointing out that no one else had received a standing "O" from Simon. Thank you, Ms. Lambert, Simon made a big enough (yet ridiculous) gesture. No need for you to remind America againn

Both Kelly and Clay received standing Os from Simon so Adam wasn't the first.

You can't put Adam and Clay (from when he was on the show) in the same category when it comes to their sexual orientations. I don't recall it being discussed as heavily at the time, but Clay went on denying he was gay. There is a huge difference between denying you're gay and not mentioning you're gay. Adam has never denied it. I believe he is out, but not in your face about it. If you listen to the studio recording (which is longer than on TV) of "Tracks of My @$#$%," Adam changes the lyrics. Most of the times, when people change lyrics on the show, it's gender-based. If a girl is singing a song that was originally sung about a girl, they change the lyrics to "him," "he," etc. In Smokey's version, the line is "Since you left me if you see me with another girl." Adam changes it to"Since you left me if you see me with somebody else." I don't think he's going to change that if he's not comfortable with his sexuality. While I agree that Clay had every right to choose for himself, I believe Adam is at a place (and has been based on his video this past week) where he is much more comfortable with his sexual orientation than Clay was while he was on the show.

As for the studio versions, I like his performance of "Tracks of My @$#$%" from the show more, without the music accompanying it. "Mad World" is fantastic, though.

And gab, I think he dissed Tatiana during an interview after group 2 in the semis. It wasn't on the actual show.

And add me to the listening to Mad World over and over club (both from the show and studio version).

Sure you can. Adam is a few years older than Clay was in 2003, by the time Clay was 26 he was out to family, friends, his band, backups and crew. Clay only denied it once in Rolling Stone right after season2. After that he only said that it wasn't anyone's business.

I'm talking about in terms of them being out and appearing comfortable with their sexuality while being on the show. Obviously, yes, Clay was younger when he was on than Adam is now, but (and this is just my opinion) Adam appears to have always been comfortable with who he is. Like you said before, it takes people different amounts of time to become comfortable. It appears Adam has always been there, at least in terms of during his time on the show.

There's nothing smug about him. When they announce he's safe, he seems genuinely thankful unlike Gokey who nods and smiles as if he had no doubt.

Do I think he'll win? It really doesn't matter, he's going to be very successful at this point...win or not.
