But at some point, ABC is just gonna have to hold its breath and jump when it comes to new series. Because to keep canceling something until a new pilot grabs "America's" attention is a good way to get to the position they were in immediately prior to Lost/Desperate Housewives when they had to have a cultural phenomenon to get out of dead last. And with Lost ending next year, and DH pegged to end in 2 (right?) they have to be looking to the future.

The characters are also interesting. They seem to be doing a good job of balancing everyone's personal and professional lives.

Hmmm I'm pretty sure it's a happy thing; the show is doing decently in its timeslot so mayhaps they're checking to see how it would do with a stronger lead-in.

The network aired an episode in the former Cupid spot with a lead in from the potentially more compatible Dancing With the Stars results show instead of Wednesday night's Lost. Yet even running against repeats at 10 p.m., Unusuals (5.3 million viewers, 1.3 preliminary adults 18-49 rating) placed last in the hour and dropped a couple tenths from last week to its lowest rating yet in the adult demographic. This show is doomed.
