Happy for Button and Vettel though. Vettel looks to be a future multi-champion. Nice funny kid too. Like to see Heidfeld improve because his seat is in extreme danger.

Indy Car on VS NOW!

Where the hell is Paul Tracy? When they unified ChampCar and Indy, Tracy raced in only one race. Edmonton. And he finished 4th. Yet he has no ride. He's
light years better than 75% of the field.

Man, both the IndyCars and the F1s are as fugly as sin. If the IndyCars were going to merge with ChampCars, they should have used the ChampCar chassis. The
IndyCars look like they have been punched in the face.

What a horrible, horrible idea it was to have the Malaysian GP in the late afternoon/early evening. Even people in Canada know that it rains buckets almost
everyday at 5pm there. What a way to ruin a race so that Bernie can have a better timeslot in Europe.

That was ridiculous but typical money grabbing Bernie. I hope he learns his lesson when the sponsors complain that the tv ratings tanked after it was obvious
it wasn't going to restart. The darkness more than the rain ended it. But ending behind the safety car is useless anyways.
I felt for you Vic when they put the full wets on Kimi. It's seeming like Brawn and Todt were the brains behind Ferrari's recent glory days. I don't blame Kimi for not wanting to go back out there and get electrocuted with the Kers always in question. I'm really loving the BBC commentators instead of ITV. Real drivers opinions and it hasn't been so rah rah British drivers. Nice to hear Eddie. Last of the real playboy drivers. It was good to see Nick to slip right in there for second. Esp at the "home" race. I don't see it happening too often and he seems like a good guy. |

They gotta ban KERS. It's ridiculous. When it failed on Friday, Kimi had smoke in the cockpit and then when he got it back to the pits he had to leap out
of the car without touching both the car and the ground. Retarded. Some driver is going to be hurt and either he or the course workers/medics are going to get
killed trying to get him out.
I like the BBC coverage as well, but it's not the same without Murray Walker. I watch the SPEED coverage just because it's more humorous and everyone here watches it. Then I download the complete BBC broadcast and watch it when I can. Their extra stuff is amazing, but TSN doesn't show it. Only the race. |

The Speed announcers are really good anyway.

Bob Varsha is a good, stable announcer. Steve Machett's technical knowledge is great to listen too (but the further he is away from his engineering career,
the less he knows about new systems), but David Hobbs is a hoot. Says it like he sees it, and isn't afraid to be politically incorrect. Loved him since I
first started watching in earnest. But it is very low budget. They aren't even at the race.
BBC's coverage is spectacular. Don't know the new announcer very well, but he sounds like a calmer version of Murray Walker. Having Martin Brundle as the colour man is good from a knowledge point of view, but he ain't no James Hunt. Murray Walker and James Hunt was the epitome of F1 announcing. :t.ear Having Eddie Jordan and David Couthard adds so much more insider knowledge. And Jordan is a smart ass Irishman which is always good. |

The Speed guys certainly have gotten better. Matchett always knew his stuff but used to get too wonky, Hobbs has always been great, and Varsha who I understand
used to be a lawyer until he found himself calling an obscure Olympics event in Atlanta and found his purpose in life has become quite the walking encyclopedia
of all things racing.
I for one live for Hobbs' kerblamos, as in Sato... kerblamo. Glad I didn't stay up/wake up for this one. Silly Bernie. I thought Kimi's tire change idea was a credible guess at the time. He didn't exactly have a lot to lose. But given Ferrari's dumbassery of late, I wonder how pissed he is. Angry Kimi probably doesn't look a lot different from happy Kimi though. Anyhow, it really is a whole new world right now. Me likey. |

^^^ Oops. Meanwhile, here's a youtube of the '89 Aussie GP they were talking about. Lots of funzies but I didn't see the
Senna/Brundle crash Varsha mentioned. Is that Senna on the three wheels?

That was Senna on three wheels at the end. Even on 3 he was faster than most.
God I miss Senna, Prost, Mansell. Great battles. Not afraid to force a pass. Not as much interference by marshals. 90-92 were my favorite years, but 86 through 93 were classics. When I was watching them live, I thought there wasn't enough passing and competitiveness. Now when I watch them, I'm amazed how even the fields were. |

Great clips guys. The old days had more ballsy drivers with less rules and marshall interference.
Getting rid of traction control and being back to slicks are a start. It would be nice if passing and a bit of bumping didn't often result in a penalty. Ok, I'm the dumbass . And a smooth correction you made Vic. I hear Eddie and an Irish accent and my hormones lead me straight to Irvine. Now I feel dirty knowing it's Jordan. |

[quote]FIA orders McLaren to meeting Apr 7, 12:13 pm EDT PARIS (AP) -Formula One's ruling body summoned McLaren to an extraordinary meeting on April 29 to answer charges that it deliberately misled stewards over events at the Australian Grand Prix. The FIA said Tuesday that McLaren was charged with lying when it told race officials that it had not given Lewis Hamilton instructions to let Toyota's Jarno Trulli overtake while the pair were behind the safety car. The FIA said Tuesday that McLaren had made no attempt to rectify its evidence under scrutiny at an inquiry last week, which stripped the defending world champion of his points and expelled his team from the season-opening race at Melbourne. Hamilton has apologized and said he was "instructed and misled" into withholding evidence by sporting director Dave Ryan, whom McLaren has blamed for masterminding the deception. McLaren said Ryan left the team on Tuesday. "As a result, he is no longer an employee of any of the constituent companies of the McLaren Group," the English team said in a statement. "We undertake to cooperate fully with all WMSC (World Motor Sport Council) processes, and welcome the opportunity to work with the FIA in the best interests of Formula One." Available penalties include suspending McLaren or Hamilton from future races or this year's entire championship. McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh has already said he is considering his future after going on holiday right after last weekend's season-opening race at Melbourne. Trulli was initially hit with a penalty of 25 seconds for overtaking behind the safety car, giving Hamilton third place. [quote] |

I like the idea that the diffusers be banned from this point forward and the results stand for the first two racers because the FIA declared them legal at that
time. Ferrari said to implement the new diffuser would cost 25 million because it requires a complete redesign of the rear of the car.
