"Hey, Mel...this is the spoiler free discussion forum. Thus, most of the people who participate DON'T want to know what happens yet. Don't be so
harsh!"

Fine whiners. Be in the dark. I would want anyone to come down hard on me or anything. That would really be sad and horrifying. |

BJ wrote:At this point, he is the future chosen one. Wouldn't surprise me. Mikiel got the pounded to shit, but always bounced back. Except when he blew himself up... "So rather than fix the problem, Sayid's more of a catalyst. It's because he shot young Ben that he ended up being older Ben's bitch. If he did change his ways rather than fall victim to his old ways like older Ben encouraged, things would be a lot more interesting."Assuming Faraday is right (and why wouldn't he be, it would be stupid to give us knowledge just to screw us with that info), Whatever happened, happened. Sawyer was meant to kill the others and join Dharma, Sayid was meant to try and kill Ben. Ben ends up being an evil genius because Sayid tried to kill him. Ben learns a valuable lesson. Just manipulate people and worry about the end game. Otherwise you might get screwed. Sayid is just a killer. Always was, as we saw. I love the fact we're getting a "If you went back in time, would you kill baby Hitler to save millions of lives" moment. What's interesting is people don't seem to agree with Sayid killing child Ben (that might be because we don't know what Ben is, good or bad, bad guy working for the good guys, etc...). EDIT: Loved that he set Sayid up though and forced him to Guam. Although I think it's weak as hell that Sayid is mad at Ben... Sayid enjoyed the killing and had no problems with what he was doing until Ben said "enough." I thought there would be more to it, like Sayid wondering if Ben had Naudia (SP?) killed.

a) Ben doesn't die...the wound was not mortal. He'd "always" been shot by Sayid and we just never knew it.
b) Ben dies, but is resurrected as a Smokey Jacob ghost which is the form he's had in the present all this time. c) Ben dies, and the future is changed despite Faraday's insistence to the contrary. Evidence for c) - the recruitment center still being the recruitment center in 2008, having been untouched by the Others (no matter where it is, wink) - the Ajira flight picking up the Numbers transmission when it had been changed by Rousseau - when Ben boards the Ajira flight and sees Sayid, he looks genuinely surprised, even though he should have remembered Sayid from his childhood Evidence against c) - the incredible amount of paradoxes that would occur - that was a snake-in-the-mailbox cliffhanger...if it were truly game-changing then it would have happened during the season finale - a) makes the most sense |

This seemed like a mostly filler episode to me. A few good moments --- Sayid's drug induced laugh was priceless, but the whole episode could have been
just the last 5 mins.
Ben, of course, can't be dead. My guess is that after a NDE (Near Death Experience) that Juliette will save Ben. This will explain why Ben is obsessed with her and explain the comment from way back about how Juliette looks just like "her." I think that Ben hired Ilana to seduce and capture Sayid to get him on the plane. Sayid must be on the plane because he has to shoot young Ben. I believe that it is Sayid shooting Ben that turns the meely mouth pansy Ben into the ruthless murdering Ben that we all know and love. They all have Daddy issues, and while Roger Workman is a bastard of a Dad, it would not be enough to cause Ben to do the Purge. (Although I can just see a drunk Roger saying, "It's too bad you didn't die." to a recovering young Ben.) The abusive father thing maybe be motivation to kill Roger but not the whole compound al la the Purge. That will be the lovely paradox that LOST so loves to give us too. I'm wondering if the NDE people are the only ones who can see Jacob. Ben can see him, Locke can (he almost dies after his Daddy threw him out of the window) and Hurley can too (maybe Hurley had a NDE when he fell in the balcony collapse.) I wonder if Ben will show off his bullet wound to someone in a later episode. Locke didn't die from his because he didn't have a kidney, maybe we'll find out that Ben has a very small heart. |

Sayid is just a killer. Always was, as we saw. [Sawyer] Tigers can't change their stripes.[/Sawyer]
Or a he had a compass in his pocket, or maybe he was a mirror twin in utero and his heart is on the other side. |

It would appear that Timothy Leary never died. He's on the island!
HOLY FREAKIN SHIT! "Upon his return to Harvard that fall, Leary and his associates, notably Richard Alpert (later known as Ram Dass), began a research program known as the Harvard Psilocybin Project." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timothy_Leary |

So, did young Ben off his dad before he came to spring Sayid? He referred to him in the past tense.

No. He offed him in the purge. We saw that happen so.. whatever happened happened, right? pamrose - as always, thanks for the laughs. I agree with anti that lil Ben is not dead.. and yeah that's finale material, that kind of cliffhanger. This episode was weak... |

I'd been wondering how and why Sayid had become so anti-Ben. I was surprised the reason seemed to be he felt rejected after Ben was through needing him
for the assassinations. It appears Ben set Sayid up to be on that plane...however, I'm thinking it may have actually been *fate* . I can't say I was
really shocked Sayid shot young Ben. That certainly seemed the direction the story was going. My theory is young Ben is not dead. Juliet will save him and
that answers the question of the picture of the lady in his house that looks like Juliet. But that's just my spec<g>.
I guess my real question now is...what are they going to do with Sayid's character? I honestly halfway expected him to shoot himself in the head after having shot young Ben. |
