Michael Sarver.
Ain't Too Proud To Beg by The Temptations He's "gonna take it to church" this week; perhaps Sylvia Chibiliti would be proud, we'll see. I agree with Smokey that he needs to pound that downbeat. He does at the start, but at the expense of the pitch and the vocal quality, which is sort-of angrily chewed. Almost the right idea, I suppose. A 6. Poler: Well, um, oh, boy. This was a tough performance. Like a Las Vegas lounge performance. Kara: But that's GOOD! Yeah! Poler: You need to dominate that song, drive it. (You need to dominate ME and drive ME?) I'm sorry, Michael. Simon: No idea what you just said. Poler: If you understood music? Simon: It was actually, I couldn't wait for it to end. You were screaming and shouting the song. Here's the problem now, that we've got to see each other a few weeks. You have no chance to win based on that type of vocal. Audience: NO!!! Simon: No point screaming. In the real world, it wasn't good enough. Forget this nonsense of domination or whatever. Try to be as good as everybody else. That was below par. Sarver: I knew it was going to be tough when I came out here, but I gave it 110%. Not here to play games! Simon: You're a good guy. Take this criticism for what it's meant. Randy: It's unbelievable, this song. Too big for you. You're not an R&B kinda dude. To have the vibe and do the runs, you did too much with it. Not the right song choice. Kara: When you leave one week, the next week, you gotta bring it back. "Who are you as an artist!1!1" (Does she have anything else in her bag of tricks?) Sarver: I'm being true to who I am, having a blast here. Ryan: Can you take their advice? Sarver: Yes. I can turn it around, and sang! |

ok, just to be clear:
"I didn't care about missing out on Motown" "I knew it was gonna be bad" and "It doesn't bother me when they say I'm awful" um, bye! |

Why couldn't one of these guys have sung "Love Machine"?
If the rest of the performances are like the first ones, then in my opinion it will go down as one of the most boring theme nights. |

PleasantMama wrote:So true. Sarver's was at least semi-listenable in cruise ship shuffle-board-background-music kind of way. Megan's was hide under a rock, ain't too proud to beg you to please stop hurting my ears kind of thing. But she said "Call me!" so she'll stay. |

Sarver is glad he made the tour. I don't think he cares about going any farther because he's gonna get money from the tour.
"I didn't know my situation if I had to go back home without the tour. ... things are not easy right now," said Sarver, 27, an oil-rig worker from Jasper, Texas, who's married with two children. "This says I have work this year. It's a blessing." |
