I feel the same way about Adam as I did about Blake. I love that he is in the competition, because I look forward to what he is going to do with what has been
handed to him.

He paid more homage to Cash by doing his own thing than he would have by singing it straight. Johnny Cash was all about being a fly in the ointment. |

I've made peace with the fact that he probably will not even have a chance to win. He is too unique, gifted, original, and odd for this show to handle.
Randy Travis making a big deal about nailpolish? Give me a break. He is too good for this dog and pony show.
I loved him from the moment I saw him and I rushed to make his love thread cause I felt something unique about him. I thought he'd be the next Cookie, which he is with originality but his style isn't understood. I love his stage confidence, his no b.s. personality (calling out Tati), he's bold in his choices and he's got a voice that trumps everyone else. He doesn't put on graces for anyone and that's what I love about him. I hope he gets a decent shot at a record deal after this is all over. I'd definitely see him on Broadway and I hate those kinds of shows. He's someone to see live and appreciate in person. Adam love <3333 |

LOVED his performance. Made the hair on my neck stand up. And you are right Miki, he is too original for this show to handle.

Adam is in the same category as David Cook and Blake Lewis -- radically changing up songs within their own genre. The problem with Adam is that his style is
the least marketable of the three. There aren't too many gay fierce glam queens in the music business today, at least not outside of rock bands.

I just re-watched the whole thing, pre-song interview and performance. I don't know why people keep saying he's arrogant and douchey. He did the song
on his own terms - to me that makes him confident, not bratty. He was also very gracious about Travis, when it was clear Travis was looking down his nose at
him the whole time. His frau couldn't be arsed to give even a token clap when it was all over - klazzy.

He was as "country" as any of the balladeers last night. Had I not heard Sarver and Allison, I'd just have thought it was ballad/love song night.
I remember when Simon gave shit to Kim Locke when she sang "I Can't Make You Love Me" on country night saying it wasn't really country. Well
neither were most of the songs last night.

Taniwha...I completely agree with you. I don't get douchy from him either...he is who he is and he doesn't make excuses but I think he seems pretty
gracious and friendly most of the time. Is he over the top when he performs, absolutely...but I love it. I thought last night was crazy, creepy, dark and
wonderful. His vocals are really good and his range is amazing.
And yeah, I thought Travis was pretty homophobic and rude, if you ask me. Who cares about nail polish? And as an "artist" shouldn't you respect someone else's "art" a little more rather than trying to get them to fit in a little box that you like? Anyway...I love Adam. |

You know, I fully expected Adam to do a nice, safe ballad and just cruise through this week on a pretty vocal. But he put it all out there last night. He took
that song, sucked up the essence of it and then laid himself bare on that stage. "Soul to see" indeed, Adam.
Indulgent? Sure. Rubbish? Hell no! |

I don't think Siouxsie has any kind of copyright on middle-eastern influenced sound.

Ab.so.lute.ly fabulous. I can't believe I'm writing this but it was cool, defineitely sexy, original, MOST original of the night. I hope he goes far.
and it's ironic that Randy brought up 9 Inch Nails becos (or maybe becos) they did a cover of a Johnny Cash song. And the notes he hit. One thing
they'll never be able to say to him is"I dunno, sounded a little "pitchy" to me......" and I agree with the poster who said few of
them sounded country last night.

bbagdan wrote:I didn't mind Kara too much on this. In her hippy dippy way, I think she was making it okay for middle America to feel that it was "strange" yet still end up being okay with that. Loved the "confused... but happy" line! Simon, on the other hand, was a tool. ETA: but one of the judges should have at least mentioned the total awsomeness of the vocal performance. In addition to the gorgeous wailing near the end, there were several subtle vocal inflections in the first half that added nuance. I'm blown away. Again.
