America voted, we didn't like it, so we're going to throw away those votes, thus making voting that week entirely pointless and then 2 people are kicked off next week. Fucking bullshit season. They fucked this show royally. I hope it tanks and gets canceled.

Meaning that person doesn't even get a phone number the following week. Keep that going until F5. Keep America abreast of the absolute favorites and when they are utterly safe. And has anyone mentioned that the current twist would not have saved Daughtry, a F4 boot?

If Allison's story arc keeps moving on the up and up, they could use it on her, too. It just depends on which contestant gets the Jordin Sparks treatment (gradual acceptance by the judges). Which winners do you think they would have used it on, had they been voted out? Obviously Carrie. Probably David Cook, Ruben and Fantasia (especially after the Top 7 debacle), but I have my doubts about Taylor and Jordin.

It's likely only going to be used on a select few contestants, but if just anyone got booted after giving a great performance, regardless of who it was, it should be used. =/ I'm just glad it isn't a "judges choose who goes home in the bottom 3" twist, a lot of people probably wouldn't vote anymore.

Lets say she's a total trainwreck but somehow pulls this all time best performance out of her "cawcaw" and still has no fanbase and America decides she has to go home. That's not fair to her. Saving her would be great TV because instead of a really boring boot you get a deserving miracle that saves her another week and perhaps drives her forward to the F5 based on all the publicity! In this way I could see the judges save working for the show really well. So just saying that this rule is all bad is not seeing it's possibilites from every angle IMO.

LaToya wasn't in the "shocking elimination" clip. The four were Daughtry, Tamyra, Michael Johns and Jennifer Hudson. The twist could have been used on two of them, but I don't think it would have been used on any...

That's 3 at most, in 7 seasons. So I think there's less than a 50% chance they'll even use the save option this year.

When she, LaToya, and Fantasia where in the bottom 3, it was obvious that it was undeserved, but the judges were very tough on her throughout the contest. Remember, this was during their "no fat chicks" stage. And didn't they only come back the next week with their typical "You should have voted" retort, leading to John Stevens' boot?
