Carboy, I think HBO will get a big audience, and there could be more buzz about it with awards (emmys, globes). But I am unsure of the size of the audience/viewership, I'd be curious to hear that too.

The guy that is going to play Big Edie's piano player/friend Gould is Malcolm Gets. Remember him? He used to be on Caroline in the City amongst other things. I think that's good casting. He is a trained pianist.

I watched Grey Gardens about a million years ago and was fascinated by these two women. I'm downloading it again so I can refresh myself for the HBO movie. I think Jessica will be wonderful in this. I love her acting. Drew can pull it off I think. Really looking forward to this!! eta: I had no idea it was made into a musical. That clip was great.

And during the shoot she stayed in character for most of the 7 weeks of shooting, asking everyone on the set to call her Edie and she even wrote letters to her boyfriend in character. She immersed herself in this project. I hope it pays off. I so want this to be good. We know Lange is going to bring it.

They also have the documentary AND the supplemental DVD "The Beales of Grey Gardens" which is just as interesting if not more than the original. If you buy them both you get a discount I think. Not only that but Little Edie has inspired many a fashion designer... (the real Little Edie as seen in front of the run down house in the Hamptons) Even Marc Jacobs recently paid homage to Little Edie's fashion sense in one of his runway shows. I thought it was gonna be like Mel Brooks making a movie from the play that was made from his movie. My confusion stems from seeing the documentary called Grey Gardens From East Hampton to Broadway which was shown as part of Independent Lens on PBS last December, which I thought was related to this which thankfully is not. Spent two nights re-watching the first and seeing the second doc from the Maysles brothers and Edie is a damn delight. I love her laugh so very much and her "costumes". I'm now looking forward to this new film more than ever. Thanks so much for that website Carboy it's great. So do you think darlingal got her/his nic from this documentary lol?

Make sure you let the credits roll to the end and you'll hear a phone call with Little Edie and one of the Maysles that too place shortly before she died.
