Just wait Oo and KP1, when Erinn (Oo) or Sierra (KP1) win this season you'll be on defense![]()

Erinn is Oo's favorite and Sierra is yours. If either of them win there will be constant cries of "Sierra is lucky Sydney and Spencer messed up that
puzzle or Sierra is gone first and we would've had a deserving winner" or "Erinn wouldn't even have made the merge if Jerry hadn't gotten
sick and quit", and it's going to drive you crazy.

My favorite is Taj. Unlike Oo, I'm able to seperate winner picks from favoritism. ^_^ *begin flamewar*

The thoughts on luck have drifted from editing. Yes, we have that habit. ;) Carry on... |

It moved off editing quickly because there's not much to say really, is there? I mean, what does it
have to do with predicting the winner? Does being portrayed as lucky increase a character's chances of winning? Decrease? Neither? I'd say the
latter.
Philosophically, I consider the whole luck question silly. If some things are luck, then everything is. Smart players make smart decisions that help them win because they were "lucky" to inherit smart genes after a million years of human evolution. Would a chimpanzee selected for Survivor be considered lucky, or unlucky? You might as well say some players are favored to win by God. . |

SANDY = CP | ||

SANDY = CP
In between these, there was a brief scene of her with the beans and being annoying, where Sydney said she repeats everything at least three times. This is really the only thing I would see as OTT in the editing.
HERE'S HER TRIBAL COUNCIL QUESTIONS:
I would say that this is another instance of an OTT personality, but a CP edit. It definitely has some depth to it and we get into Sandy's head.
2) CP shows complexity of thought about the game, and or complex emotions that might be construed as Positive or Negative. "Players" like Brian, Shii Ann, Jeff Varner, or Chris, during the normal course of their editing, would in my mind be complex because they were always in the game. and many of their edits related directly to the strategic maneuvering in their tribe (successful or not). She definitely makes some strategic comments, not just in terms of the bean/gun analogy (which is survival-related strategy for her tribe), but more
specifically in terms of her assessment of Sydney and how to outwit Sydney. It didn't pan out, but the thought is still good and it makes sense given the
edit: Sydney was using her body, so Sandy had to use her mind.
3) Someone who expresses internal conflict over a situation, someone who expresses a "deep" or turbulent emotion like remorse, loneliness, or betrayal expressed intelligently and not like "You're a liar, T!;" someone who demonstrates a complex strategy or bold strategic move and their reasoning for it. There has to be something shown in interviews that contradicts what we've seen or adds conflict to the scenario. A weak connection, but she expresses some uneasiness about the vote saying that she has mixed emotions over it, meaning she doubts whether or not she'll
be voted out, so this might work - but very weakly.
4) If the player gets quality screen time and is either shown multiple times being strategic or shows a multi-dimensional side, then you go with CP Somewhat.

How does that make me bitter? I liked Parvati. To not see that she is one of the most (if not THE most) lucky winners ever is just blind love. Sorry, but it is. |

The things that people short-sightedly claim helped Parvati win are all based on some fan fic-ed alternate universe in which Jonathan staying would've meant a fan super alliance would dominate at F7 or something completely ridiculous. Absolutely none of the overblown overstated instances of "luck" that have been listed in this thread had quantifiable results for Parvati except for JFP being voted off, which as I've already explained, had nothing to do with luck and everything to do with a mistake JAYE made. Anything else is only "luck" in hindsight, which is to say that anyone who won would've been the luckiest winner ever to have had those evacuations because it led to the chain of events that led to their win. Which is poor logic at best.

I see it sort of like poker...you have to play pretty well to get to the end, but you need to be dealt good cards in the end to win.
Oh yeah...and God's the dealer. flf...Please

Yep, that's exactly what we're saying: God favored Parvati but She erred in doing so.

Or, God had nothing to do with anything and Parvati won because she was a good player.

Doesn't everyone just love the day or two before an episode airs? All the lovely harmony, bantering about ratings of players who have been booted or
players from previous seasons.
Ain't it grand! |

Nah, God definitely erred but then She apologized to Herself (as Vecepia would've done).
So everything's OK. So no need to call for an Inquisition or a Crusade or anything like that. |

This makes me apprehensive as to what's going to happen in a week or so, given we will have a Thursday off due to the NCAA's. Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we do during the NCAA's ? What shall we view? or What shall become of Coach's tone? or Wherewithal shall we divine the winner by the merge? |

Okay, so I've been MIA. I think I need to take a break, hell, already started it. I've got one kid's birthday in a few weeks and they'll be
with me for a week, and I'm not sure what house I'll be in, if I'll be in one, and I still haven't kicked whatever is filling up my lungs since
winter hit. I hope I actually have things figured out by then. So even though I'm watching the show, I just don't have the energy right now to
contribute. As a result, you can't count on me to help on close calls, so I need to step down from ToneDog.
Maybe in a week I'll realize I'm an idiot, maybe in a month I'll annoy y'all with excessive posts, but right now I'm just letting everyone down, which is pretty much how I'm doing that across the board in everything I'm touching so far in 2009. So I guess I won't get to that 200th post as quickly as I assumed. I'm sorry to bother anyone here right now. Keep it up and nail the winner. (Is it Stephen or Erinn? See I'm still thinking, at the very least.) In a pinch, I'd personally trust flf to fill the ToneDog position with his choosing. I personally would nominate gettingreal, since he considers all opinions, not just his own, which is necessary for tone review. Make a quick selection. Again, sorry I've wasted everyone's time this season. Thanks to gr and wallduck for checking on me and everyone. This is a group of friends, and I'll be back to piss you all off soon enough. Sigh and O'Nara for now. Michael |
