Since Sawyer and Juliet are coupled and it's 74-77, why don't they know each other in the future when they meet? I do like them as a couple. The chemistry is there unlike with Kate. And at the end we see the gang meeting in 77. At some point they go back to the future by donkey wheel or whatever, because they have to crash originally. Why are they strangers when they crash if they've met in 77 ?

Juliet and Sawyer's timeline keeps going forward, so the 1974 is their present, happening after 2004-5 and all the flashes. So the future when they first meet is still their past. Of course, that leads us to imagine what would happen if they ended up staying there and catching up to themselves after the crash. Oh wait, they will be killed by Ben with the rest of the DI! And about Locke not having aged as much....Ben hasn't either. He landed in Tunisia about a year ahead in time, so he's only 2 years older.

I love it with Kate and likewise I liked Jack with Juliet. Oh, well. If anything it will create great drama now that they are back. The time thing I don't get too involved with. I feel that the original Losties are mentally in sync with time. So, even though they go back and forth in it, their version of time is steady.

Between Sawyer's reaction to seeing Kate and not telling Juliet that Jin found them, it's obvious Sawyer is not even close to being over Kate. I'm confused about all the time travel stuff now too. I don't understand how nothing can change and what happens already happened like Daniel said. If Juliet, Sawyer, and Miles have been there for 3 years they have affected things. If Richard and Widmore can remember meeting Locke back in the 50's for a brief moment, you would think that everyone else would remember at least a little bit.

Remember that when Ben turned the Donkey Wheel and was tossed off the Island, he was also tossed forward in time by 10 months. 2. Locke stopped the time skipping so in essence the island itself is now "fixed" but i don't see anything else that needs fixing. I also don't see any need for the island's timeline to be corrected back to where they ended/started as the Others weren't working on anything else than trying to have women be able to give birth. Is anybody else confused about what their actual purpose is besides continuing a brilliant TV show?

Somehow the island resurrected him, but this happened after the flash. I would expect the live Losties (including Sun and Sayid and whoever else may have been on the plane) to be in 1977. Why did the O6 need to go back? I'm guessing the upcoming war is the reason.

It looks to me at least, that he is dressed the same every time we have seen him this season. When he meets Locke by the plane and gives him the compass, when Locke enters camp, and last night entering Dharmaville. Let's look at that instance: would he really show up by himself? Remember when the Others encountered Locke, Sawyer, and Jack in the jungle...they had about 40 people to gang up on 3. Showing up alone for that is very un-other-like. But, if he was traveling through time, he could have shown up without any "hostiles" knowing it. Really, what are the odds that he would dress exactly the same in 1954, 1974, and 2004? Especially considering what someone said above, that when Richard first meets Ben he looked all unshaven and shaggy. My theory is that he is sort of following what is happening in time and guiding the 815ers to do the island's bidding. His actions are all meant to move the island forward to its destiny, whatever the hell that is.

But you're right ... it looks like Locke turning the donkey wheel set everything right. If none of the O6 had come back to the island, it sure looks like Sawyer, Juliet et al would have been there until the purge wiped them all out or they gave up waiting and left on the submarine.

They have been transported back in time, but still have their memories from before (after the plane crash) in tact.

With that said, didn't Marvin Waxhead mention in the Dharma movie there was some sort of incident back in 1980? So if they're now in 1977 wouldn't it be like 3 years into their future for that incident to happen in 1980? Maybe Sawyer and the rest of them figure out a way to go back to the future by causing this incident. They would also escape the inevitable of being killed in the purge later on.

It has a copyright date of 1980, so the conclusion is that the "Incident" occurred prior to that. So, yes, it is a reasonable assumption at this point to think that something the Losties do to get back to their "time" will cause the Incident.

I usually wait for the DVDs before rewatching, but I felt like I was bouncing around time with all the "Three years earlier" and "Three years later" notices. I have a feeling that particular episode must have been quite a challenge for the writers and I think they handled it very well. It was great to see the Dharma Initiative members in their day to day life. There's so much to go back and check out again. The more episodes that go by without sight or mention of Rose and Bernard, I'm beginning to wonder if they aren't Adam and Eve. I've always thought they were the "in your face" representation of the dark/light theme, though I don't know where they would have found a "Go" game to play while they were holed up in the cave waiting for Jack to come back and tell them what to do. ;)

How about this, StarRider: The only purpose for getting the O6 together on the plane was to simulate the right conditions so that Ben could return. The whole thing was a huge mindfuck on Locke, Jack, Kate, etc. There was nothing that really needed fixing on the island, it was just power hungry Ben (perhaps with the help of Richard, Eloise and butcher lady) figuring out a way to get back. The "big lie" perpetrated by the O6 was countered with even bigger lies from Ben and Widmore. Since the island offers redemption to all who end up there, however, the O6 needed to go back for personal reasons anyway, because their off-island selves were off-kilter. As for the upcoming war, I don't see that as a purpose for going back, but as a consequence. Don't you all think that Widmore had a few people on that plane? I think that the war will be the "incident" (or will at least cause it).

Of course we have heard Faraday's mother claim that it would be a disaster if they didn't return but she could be in cahoots with Ben. In fact she seems to know him well. I guess time will tell.....

They don't remember meeting each other in 1977 because it's their consciousness vs. the consciousness of those around them, which is why Widmore remembers meeting Locke way back when, but Locke doesn't remember meeting him until he actually did it. I hope I wrote that in a semi-coherent way. I wonder if one of the reasons the island has been using the 815ers is to somehow prevent the purge. If Horace built the cabin, he must be a Jacobite (snort). Perhaps Jacob wants to save those DI people - another reason Ben might be banished. (Though if this were true, Jacob would've ditched Ben from the island a long time ago.) But if the Others are Jacob's followers, why did Horace, a DI leader, build the cabin? The scene with Alpert was my favorite. Clean-shaven Sawyer with dimples flashing is hawt. Please keep that beard off his face. I also just loved happy Sawyer. No one deserves an HEA more than him (and Penny and Des) and Juliet (hey, she's been through hell on that island). Oh, and I for one am LOVING ABC for skipping next week since I'll be on vacation. Perfect, perfect timing. (Ducks rotten food.)
