the deanna thing was the most scripted thing I have ever seen- it was good writing "you havent proposed yet" could mean to her or to the either of
the other two - brilliant the person came up with that. They probably reshot that scene 5-10 times to have her say that the right way.

After 30 some odd pages...I...I just don't know what to say.
Screw that...yes I do: Thank you atherella, tdugan (happy 10k btw!), lolabingo, Cammie, and whoever else took it upon themselves to wade through the clusterfucks of FORT, Jason's Myspace, Chris's blog, TWOP, etc to find the crazy. I don't think I've ever laughed so fucking much. My favorites are the ones who made religious references and all that holier shit and the one who mentioned Jason being a sociopath. All I could keep thinking on Monday is that Molly must be an absolute fucking rockstar in the sack. Also, why am I a sucker for kids? Fuck. Those FORT fraus and others who remained unspoiled must have been in *!@@+ with the happy family moment when Ty popped up at the end there after Melissa had been chosen. |

Sure, single papa Jason Mesnick's Bachelor finale
showdown -- and subsequent After The Final Rose specials part 1 and part 2 -- brought
record ratings, but will the fan backlash end up hurting
ABC's hit reality series? Pick up a copy of Entertainment Weekly this Friday for our full report, including what advice season 2 Bachelor Aaron Buerge -- who knows a thing or two about, you know, being despised
for making a girl cry on TV -- has for the ever-fickle Mesnick. Meanwhile, we checked in with the man who's really behind the roses, exec producer
Mike Fleiss, to find out what the hell went down over the course of what will now be known as The Best Season Of Reality TV Ever (well, at least to me it
will)!
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: There are rumors that the outcome was manipulated and that you guys knew all along how it was going to turn out. What do you
have to say about those accusations?
Another question irking many fans: Why did he have to break it off with Melissa on camera?
After the jump: "Once you've made the commitment to be on one of these shows you have to assume a certain level of emotional risk." Did he have a choice in the matter?
So he could have chosen to break up with Melissa off-camera and then talk about it after the fact on the After The Final Rose
special?
Still, so many people think that because it was such a personal moment, she must be humiliated.
Everyone had thought he'd chosen Melissa, that it was set in stone, and then it was just a surprise that he'd changed his mind in that
amount of time.
It was a little surprising that Molly wasn't more hesitant to take him back.
Are you worried now that some fans are going to walk away from the show because their disappointed or angry by Jason's decision? If that were true, we wouldn't have held our numbers in that second half hour during Monday night's ATFR. If there was going to be this mass exodus from the show, it would have [already] happened. If we make a great show, people will watch a great show and that's the bottom line. Why do you think it is that Jason's season did see such a ratings spike for the show?

"Bachelor" Jason Mesnick recalls "the
good, the bad and the ugly"
The Jason Mesnick edition of "The Bachelor" may be over, but judging by the number of gigabytes on the Internet devoted to the
controversial ending of the show, viewers still have plenty of unanswered questions.
The Seattle Times talked to Mesnick and his girlfriend Molly Malaney the morning after the final broadcast; excerpts are below. For a fuller treatment of this interview, pick up a Seattle Times on Sunday, March 8, or return then to www.seattletimes.com. Q: Can we start from the beginning? Last time I talked to you in early December, you were engaged to Melissa. Did you ever expect to change your mind? Jason: I would never have proposed if I thought I was going to change my mind. Retrospectively, if I had a couple more months things would have been different. With the time constraints on the show, at the time I thought I was making the right decision. Q: You spent the holidays with Melissa in L.A. Was Molly on your mind that whole time? J: Initially, I tried to ignore it. Any time I would think about Molly I would be like, "Forget it." I made a decision, I'm going to get married to Melissa. But every day, I just remember thinking, OK first of all I feel really bad what I did to Molly. And then slowly, I would say, week after week it started building more and more. It was like, now I just don't feel bad, there's a piece of me that's still gone. Q: Did you fall out of love with Melissa? J: Melissa is that person I thought going into it I would end up with. I guess in a way she's similar to a lot of other girls I've dated in my life, which is part of the reason why I ended up picking her. It was just something I was so used to and something I always thought I wanted when realistically, there's probably a reason why my past relationships haven't worked out. What I really needed was somebody different and it was Molly. Q: The decision to do it on television has been what everyone has been talking about. Did you actually tell Melissa beforehand? J: The last conversation with Melissa and I was probably two days before we shot and it was, "Are you even going to wear your engagement ring because we're not together?" She definitely wasn't shellshocked. I knew everybody's going to judge because I did what I decided to do on a TV show. At the time I felt like I didn't have a choice. [... ] Retrospectively, would it have been better if I just didn't show up? That was my alternative. Then would America look at me and say, "This guy's a chicken, he can't even say what's on his mind." It's a lose-lose. Retrospectively would I have not done it on TV? You know what? Yeah. I wouldn't have done it. Q: How has your family been dealing with the public nature of it? J: It's a little strange. I'm in L.A. right now, so I haven't been home during the finale. My family is very supportive. I even have messages from my old ex part of the family saying you did what you had to do and it was a really hard thing to do. [... ] It was what I decided to do, from the very beginning, the good, the bad and the ugly, and every single week, I broke up with people. And I hated doing that then. But it's what I decided to do from the very beginning. So my family's been really supportive. More than anything, they want me to be happy. Obviously I'm not happy with how people are perceiving me. I think people are judging most of all because this was on TV, but that's why everyone tuned in because it is on TV. Q: What did your family say when you told them, "I proposed to Melissa but it's not working out and I want to be with Molly." J: Two things. Who cares what people are going to think about you? What's the alternative, living a lie? I was never going to do that. They just said if she really makes you happy you gotta go through and do the right thing. Q: Molly, what has it been like for you to watch this whole situation unfold and having to deal with this emotionally? M: I would say I'm a pretty logical person. I understand that I came on a show called "The Bachelor," there's 25 girls, things are going to happen. I even knew when I left New Zealand, I wasn't mad at Jason, I knew he had to make a choice between two people and at that point he thought he made the choice for him. Everything's in the past and we've moved on from it. Q: When did you make the decision to say "Yes, we're fully back on"? I assume it wasn't right at the taping of "After the Final Rose." M: No, it wasn't right away. We definitely had to have some serious discussions after all that. I needed to understand what happened with him and Melissa. I would say it was a couple weeks after we got past everything and got to a good place. Q: So you decided to move to Seattle? When? M: Eventually. It's not a matter of if. I definitely will move out there, but I think we're just going to try to take it slow, move at our own pace and adjust to being a couple in the real world first. Q: Would you both go through this experience again? J: The only reason to do this is to find Molly. That's the only reason to do it. M: I think the best advice I would give to anybody thinking about going through a situation like this is that you have to have incredibly tough skin. There's a lot of negativity that comes with doing something like this. But if you can get past that, which Jason and I have done a good job of doing, you have your family, your friends and Jason and I have each other. I can't regret anything I've done because I'm at a very good place in my life now. Q: Molly, did you talk to your family when Jason came back around? M: Oh yeah. I emphasized on the show how important my family is to me. I definitely wanted to keep them in the loop of what was going on. They were skeptical at first, they had the exact questions I had when I found out, but they love Jason and they see how happy he makes me so they're very supportive of all this. Q: There've been a ton of rumors about the show for weeks now. How have you dealt with it? J: The one true thing that came out was I did have this change of heart. Everybody else started speculating the behind the scenes stuff, which is 100 percent false. and that's where a lot of these stories came from, speculation, and that's just disappointing. M: People just think we're these characters on a TV show. We have families and we have jobs. People say awful, awful things and they don't realize how that can affect our real lives. At the end of the day, we just need to focus on what's important and that's our friends and families, and we have each other and really that's all that matters. So we're just trying to move on from all that. Nicole Tsong: ntsong@seattletimes.com |

This season was so fun. I'm disappointed it's over. Here's to hoping the media keeps this alive a bit longer, so the FORT fraus keep clucking.
Melissa is on Ellen tomorrow and Jason & Molly are on Friday. And who knows if Jason's ex-wife will show up on Access Hollywood tonight. I'm hoping yes! Jason is back in control of his myspace and posted a stupid little blog. For some reason, he is still letting comments go through without approval. He'll probably change that soon, I imagine. (The message below was posted TWENTY times! I kid you not! She was obviously trying to take to take up his entire first page of his comment section! Jason, I still believe that your the biggest jerk in the world. You did not deserve Melissa... She was to good for you and to hott for you, in real world, you would never score a girl like that, and i guess you realized it and settled for the skank... lol...Hope you guys are happy, at least for the next few months, until Bob, the married guy Molly had an affair with comes and tells Molly he wants her back. And she leaves you on your ass, Man, that would make millions happy... but anyways, Molly, you complain that people judge you and say crap about you, YOu deserve it, you are a skank that sleeps with married and engaged men and you want us to like you... Why dont u just stick it in your mouth and shut up, it will suit you better. ahh, I feel so much better now.. so F u both and goodnight suckers...Here's his blog:

Not sure if this recrap has been posted already: The Bachelor Finale, Or: The Internet Just 'Sploded
A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, we met Jason, the lovable scamp who will be looking for love. We're supposed to love Jason because he got dumped by DeAnna last season, but we'll learn our lesson regarding that, OH YES WE WILL. Jason had plot device - uh, a SON - named Ty, who was an adorable moppet who had no idea a bunch of skanks would be descending on his life, but probably didn't care cause he's already discovered boobies. There were roses, and makeouts, and then the last two uh...ladies were left. AND THEN THE MAGIC HAPPENED, PEOPLE. Ready? Okay, HERE WE GO. First there was a totally not staged golfing outing with Melissa. Melissa treats the plot device like he's a cab driver who doesn't speak English. Then there's a sheep? I don't know. Anyway, they meet Jason's family, and they're all "brush your hair and don't stomp on poor widdle Jason's heart or we'll totally cut you." And then something TOTALLY WICKED AWESOME HAPPENS. We are reminded that Melissa's parents, who, unlike everyone else on this goddamn show, have a shred of dignity, totally won't go on camera. I KNOW! It's awesome. Everyone stares at Jason and Melissa cause there's a kid's feelings at stake here and Jason's totes boinking like, four other women, and oh my God, YOU'RE ON REALITY TV AND SO ARE WE. Then the same thing happens with Molly. They go to the beach, she treats Ty like he's contagious, blah blah, no one gets eaten by a giant ocean beast, and here we go to meet the parents again. This poor family, guys. Seriously. So they're all "God, will SOMEONE brush their hair, kthxbai?" and then Jason's brother is all "DUDE, seriously. We're sick of our sad sack of a brother getting hurt, what's your deal?" and Molly totally admits but not really that she's a woo-girl and a drunken slut, but we knew that already. Jason thinks the meetings went well. Jason is deluded beyond belief. So Jason and Melissa go sailing in the rain, and talk about how awesome everything is, and not how she has a career and everything cause you know, that doesn't matter, and then they snorgle in bed and Melissa interviews that she's totes going to say yes if he proposes, no doubt, and there's no way this will end well, will it, ABC. No chance at all. Then Molly and Jason go out in the rain AGAIN, like, THANKS, weather, I'm sure the camera and sound guys are having a grand old time, for realsies, and so Molly instead molests Jason on a massage table because she's not a good career girl, no sirree, and then then she straddles him, my goodness gracious, and they make out, because one of these girls is not like the other, meaning one's a good girl and one's a dirty whore, and there's no way this will end well. So they go to dinner, and it gets awkward cause Molly's made him a scrapbook, which Jason is like "wow, that's...awesome?" and she says she likes him, but not in the way that Melissa does, in that she's making a scrapbook too, but it's all of wedding dresses and puffy paint that says "Melissa + Jason = Love and Unicorns and it is all forced smiles and I want to kill myself. AND THEN HERE COMES THE TWIST, AND HER NAME IS DEANNA!!! She shows up in spike heels and says she wants Jason to choose HER because I'm sure getting made a foolio on national television is no biggie, and he'll totes go skipping back to her, right? Right. So he sends DeAnna packing, all "I'm in LOVE, girl, you totes BLEW IT, look at how big my penis is right now, I AM THE MAN!" And DeAnna spouts some bullshit about how any woman who would let him go is an idiot, and did she just call herself a moron? Cause that's some TV I could get behind. So DeAnna goes on her merry way to go break some more hearts, cause that's what she does. Then we have an EXCRUCIATING montage of Jason kvetching about having to choose, blah blah BLAH and I wonder why I ever quit drinking, just for a minute. Seriously, guys. Then the ladies kvetch about how much they love him and NO ONE talks about how he's so in luuuuuuuurve with two people and how totally shallow that is and I have a headache from too much Red Bull. So here it comes!!!! The final decision!!!! Here comes Molly, which means Jason didn't pick her. She's ready to change her life! Become a stepmom! Woo!!! So of course he dumps her. She's crying, she interviews that obviously Jason DIDN'T love her, the internet thunders "WELL DUH!" and Jason interviews that this was like, the hardest thing he's ever done, especially since she's a dirty whore, but we don't marry dirty whores, do we? We marry career women we find semi-attractive. So guess what! Here comes Melissa! And she's soooooooooooo excited!!! She totally knows she has it in the bag, and even though Jason could, well, be more enthused (SPOILER!) she is totally wearing a completely fake smile as he awkwardly proposes and she awkwardly says yes, and everyone IS SO HAPPY and there's NO WAY THIS WILL END WELL AND HERE WE GO!!!!! It's six weeks later, and ol' Harrison tells us "A lot has happened." WOO!!!!! Ominous! We LOVE ominous! Okay, so we open SO AWESOMELY because instead of the happy audience howling with glee as the happy couple celebrate six whole weeks of being together in a supposed monogamous relationship, there is, wait for it, NO AUDIENCE. Because of the emotion! The agonizing emotion! Whatever will the news be??? This is already so great, guys. I hope there's hair pulling like at "Rock of Love: Charm School" with bits of weave going everywhere. That would bring a tear to my eye with its beauty. ANYWAY!!!!!!! So Jason sad-sacks his way out to Harrison, and glumly talks about how only having one girlfriend is the PITS man, and Melissa is like, SUCH a bummer, and he totally banged her and it was way boring or she talked the whole time about her exes or something happened that we'll never know, but it's way more fun to make up, like she immediately moved her collection of Beanie Babies into the house or something, but anyway, Jason's not happy. He can't stop thinking about Molly. Jason SAD. Jason want TWO GIRLFRIEND, maybe MOAR, not just stinky old Melissa. He's come to dump her. In front of 15 million people, but no AUDIENCE, because there might be hair pulling. Jason is a bad bad person. AWESOME. So here comes Melissa, who is smiling like she's had a lobotomy. Or there's some serious pent up rage. Rage! Rage!!!!! Jason: I don't dig you anymore. Melissa: Then why did you propose, DOUCHE? Jason: I can't stop thinking about Molly, cause she's a better lay. Melissa: Have you been having phone sex with her!?!?!?!? Jason: No, but I wish I had thought of that. Melissa: I hate you, you stupid sanctimonious prick, have fun with your Whore of Babylon, I'm outta here, and I'm totally hocking this ring, YOU. DOUCHE. Well done, Melissa! Jason just stands there waiting for Molly to come out, and looking at Melissa like she's the teacher from Peanuts, all "wah waaaaaaaaahwahwahwah wah." Jason SUCKS, y'all. Melissa in limo: Jason sucks. She's crying. They both know about heartbreak, he should have known better. Misery. Woe. Aw, Melissa. I know about heartbreak too, but I'll be good goddamned if I'm going on national television to deal with it. LESSON LEARNED! Melissa can't hate Jason. YES YOU CAN, GIRL!!! This is not the time to be stoic! Onward and upward, Melissa! The Douchelor is now making excuses about how he never lied. HE NEVER LIED, Y'ALL!!!! Except for the whole "I love you" thing, but no one cares about that, right? God I hate him. Harrison tells him that Molly is backstage. OF COURSE SHE IS. Why don't we bring back ALL the girls that The Douchelor said he really liked so he can get the whole harem back together, which is clearly what he wants. %*#*!, this is the issue. He wants the harem. Jason is a DOUCHE. Here comes Molly to talk to Harrison. She's been watching the show every week. WAIT, WHAT? What kind of masochistic...wow, Molly, okay. That's...weird at best. The non-proposal was hard on her. Oh my god, y'all, I CANNOT BELIEVE she tucks in with a pint of Ben and Jerrys and a fifth of vodka and watches this every Monday. DAMN, girl. Anyway, she needs closure. And then Harrison does something SO ASSHOLISH I had to rewind. (Thanks, ABC.com!) He gravely asks "Well, what if he changed his mind?" Oh BOO, Harrison. After the break, here comes The Douchelor. He's totes over Melissa leaving, by the way, and back to ogling Molly and he's as happy as an effing clam. I hate him. Molly is giggly. Harrison is useless. And here it comes. The most unbelievably insincere babble about how he never forgot about Molly, he loved her, his heart broke to let her go, it couldn't work with Melissa, oh my GOD shut UP, Jason, and please please take him back, pretty please with smarm on top. And we're off to commercial. Aaaaand we're back, with a totally useless recap from Harrison. What will Molly say? Will she kick him square in the nuts, as he so richly deserves? Will Melissa come raging out of nowhere with a butcher knife and kill everyone? Will the plot device ever be mentioned again? Is Harrison a robot, or does he get a piece of every girl that the Douchelor dumps? SO MANY QUESTIONS! But the big one is, of course, What! Will! Molly! Say!!!!! %*#*!. She says yes. YES! Yes, she'll take him back, she's so HAPPY to see where things will go, YES let's go frolicking into the sunset, and y'all? This is the most bullshit thing that has ever happened in reality TV ever, ever, ever, and I can't believe she didn't shove that rose RIGHT UP HIS ASS, and I cannot believe this bullshit is DRIPPING all over my television. OH AND THEN IT GETS BETTER! The Douchelor actually says that this isn't "the classiest or coolest thing in the world" but OH WELL, and I hate him with the firey heat of a thousand burning nuns and I hope he gets hit with a bus. And that's what happened. The Douchelor and Molly, that idiot woman, go strolling into the sunset, Melissa gets a limo ride to the airport after being humiliated on national television, and I have carpal tunnel and a strong urge to listen to Beyoncé and dance around my apartment with all the other single ladies and y'all? Life could be worse. We could all be on The Douchelor. I HATE THIS SHOW.

They need to have Jason come visit Jillian at the F2 and be like "You haven't proposed yet. That's why I came here." and hype it all season
long. Then have Jillian dump both guys and get with Jason at After the Final Rose Part 2... and then dump him for Brad Wombat on After the Final Rose Part 3
for maximum drama.

My favorite comment so far is a tie between the chocolate starfish, and "THIS IS WHAT IS WRONG WITH AMERICA!"
Jason is more likely to take his life...right after Molly dumps the "biggest douche in America" and she gets a load of living with brother, kid, and a balding insurance salesman that everyone hates. |

More spin about
"Molly" being his choice to be the Next Bachelorette. Ummm, don't you mean Mel?
GRAND RAPIDS -- Potential Grand Rapids son-in-law Jason Mesnick's popularity has plummeted in the court of public opinion following his change of heart earlier this week, but "Bachelor" ABC executive producer Mike Fleiss thinks he will bounce back. "Jason was so immensely popular, he had the farthest to fall," Fleiss said Wednesday in a media conference call. "I saw him and Molly (Tuesday) night, and they are as happy as can be. He said, 'What was I going to do? I was in love with another woman.'" ABC executive producer Mike
Fleiss approached Molly, then Melissa before settling on Jillian.
That woman, of course, is local gal Molly Malaney, who endured heartbreak when Mesnick chose Melissa Rycroft over her on the finale of ABC's popular romance reality show. He later decided he made a mistake and asked Malaney for one more chance. Shortly after the finale was taped in New Zealand, about six weeks ago, Fleiss was close to snagging Malaney as the next "Bachelorette." "First, I tried to talk Molly into it," he said. "She's fantastically telegenic and sweet. I was on the phone with her two and a half weeks (after Mesnick broke it off), and she was still a little upset. She asked for permission to break the confidentiality agreement and tell her friends and family that she had not been chosen and was considering becoming the next 'Bachelorette' ... her friends at least were behind her."

• After 'The Bachelor': Jason
Mesnick and Molly Malaney say they are happy, and she's moving to Seattle
Then came what may be the most flabbergasting moment of Malaney's young life: learning Jason still wanted a future with her. After she agreed to work things out, obviously being "The Bachelorette" was off the table. Next to tap: The scorned Melissa. Fleiss knew a ratings coup when he saw one. But Melissa, still obviously upset about what transpired, refused. (Third-place finisher Jillian Harris will be the next "Bachelorette," which premieres in May.) The 25-year-old former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader also refused to be participate in most media interviews, though she will appear on Thursday's "Ellen," which airs locally at 4 p.m. on WOOD-TV (Channel 8). "At some point we'll invite Melissa to be part of an update package," Fleiss said. "We hope she gets over this, and that she finds the right guy. She's a terrific girl, and I'd say the most popular girl in the country right now." Here is a statement from Melissa Rycroft: "Although I could not be here, I want to thank everyone who has been so supportive throughout this process. This has been such an overwhelming experience, and I really do appreciate the support system behind me.Defending Mesnick's actions, Fleiss insisted Rycroft knew what was coming. "(Mesnick) had plenty of access to her (during the six weeks after he proposed), but it just wasn't working," Fleiss said. "She knew it, she just didn't know it was about Molly. That took her off guard." Rycroft may have won the sympathy vote, but Molly won the guy. "They're clearly in love," Fleiss said of the couple. Malaney will get the chance to defend her man, and her own actions, in some high-wattage media coverage. The couple will appear on the cover of this week's People magazine; they'll also sit down for a chat with Ellen DeGeneres on her Friday show. For his efforts (some would say machinations), Fleiss has a show with ratings resuscitated beyond his wildest dreams. But he still won't admit to any behind-the-scenes manipulation. "We've never (scripted the outcome)," he said. "The great thing about unscripted television is that it's unpredictable. As producers we have 0.0 percent influence in choosing the winner."
