"And for those of you who don't like us switching up the tribes because it screws you up in your Survivor pool, how about this...no switches next season. Straight Survivor. Is that what you want? Two tribes. No switch. One merge. Final 2. Okay, fine. Done. I'll call CBS and tell them I've made a decision" What do u make of it. Is he telling the truth?

While the final 3 has made it easier for some likeable people to win (Earl, Yul, Todd, Bob), I really believe it weakens and waters down the game. The two best players should be scheming and plotting each other, not planning to go to the finals together with a goat. A final two with an odd numbered jury of 7 or 9 is the best way to go.

Here is the first part of the voiceover from an episode 4 promo. Announcer: It's a first ever... Taj <talking to Stephen>: Do you want to be a part of the biggest upset on Survivor history? Announcer: ...four way... Brendan <in confessional>: Taj with Stephen and me with Sierra. Announcer: ...cross tribal... Stephen: They made a pact on Exile Island. Announcer: ...secret alliance. Brilliant strategy... JT <in confessional>: You have to look forward in this game. There could be a switch at any time. Announcer: ...or recipe for disaster? Tyson: I'd like to see a freakout at Tribal. If the new tribes are selected according to a pick'em, all the members of the secret cross-tribal alliance could end up on the same tribe. If that tribe loses the IC, someone on that tribe who is not part of the alliance (probably Joe) would be in for a nice surprise and we would get to hear Jeff Probst call out another blindside. The edit for Joe is very similar to Jacquie's edit last season (eg. thrown umder the bus). Like Jacquie, we know nothing about Joe. Like Jacquie, Joe is portrayed as bland and innocuous. This makes him a prime candidate to be picked off after a switch. The cross-tribal alliance has been portrayed somewhat negatively with Taj's evil laugh. The secret alliance, that no one will see coming, seems primed to claim their first victim soon.

That will be a blindside...or Jeff will call it one, because Sandy was really supposed to be the next boot. This cross tribal alliance will really have to wait until the merge to pan out.

There is a possibility of one player switching every week. So why have a complete tribal switch up? I could definitely see the 'no tribal switch' thing happening. And back to F2? That surprises me, especially given that they didn't give themselves any extra players this season in case someone quits or gets injured a'la Micronesia. But again possible that this is a go for F2 this season.

Putting one member of each tribe on exile plus the option of exiled people switching tribes is all they need to mix things up. Plus, if they switch, they will mess up the "secret cross-tribe" alliance, which I'm sure EPMB does not want.

In another blog, Jeff admitted there were good arguments for having both a F2 and a F3. He wouldn't have done that if F3 was the new default and Micronesia was an exception because of injuries. Jeff probably knows they overdid it on the swaps last season too. Rather than producing shifts in alliances, they just screwed the people switched into the monority and made the game very random. They really need a no-swap season now to keep future players honest, so they don't target the strong early expecting tribes not to last. And the Exile twist can create cross-tribal alliances.
