(Including casting calls on the road...)
I heard TAR Asia gets about 2000-3000 apps. I'm sure the original version after 14 seasons gets more than that.

How many applications do the casting crew review? |

Just curious - does anyone know how many applications the casting crew goes through in order to arrive at the 11 or so teams that actually get to be on the
race (plus backups)?

I've wondered that myself. My brother and I applied for S15 and Ithink I read somewhere it's between 8-25,000. That seems like a huge margin of error
to me. So much so that it kinda makes me think that either they get alot more than they would ever want and are trying to discourage people from trying because
the odds are stacked against you, or they don't get very many and want you to believe that you have a chance. It was very interesting (and perhaps telling)
that the deadline this year was extended for a full week.

How many are submitted, or how many do they actually look at?
Given how many insiders get cast, I the ratio is probably even smaller than you'd think. |

Oh don't get me wrong...Without connections I don't think we have a shot in hell. But, I have a friend who has a friend....so we'll see how it
goes. I'm not expecting anything to come of it but if you don't try you'll never know.

11 total
And that is after they tell those 11 to submit an application.... Try "how many bars does the applicatoin reviewers go to in the L.A. area?" Or "how many myspace pages do they read?" /jaded |

I was wondering the same thing. Even if they had someone who would recommend them, who would actually do it?! |

KenChanS, I will try to give you a helpful answer on this. The most recent numbers say about 12,000; however, it is unclear whether this is
12,000 single applications, meaning 6000 teams OR 12,000 teams and 24,000 applications. Either way, this number seems a little bit high, and I would put it
more around 8000-10,000. It varies from season to season. The number for Season 15 will be considerably lower though due to the lack of open casting calls
(only video submission). Hope that helps!
