Well, whatever anyone else thinks, I thought it was a great first episode. What a great twist to open the game. I like how one person looked for the idol and the other sought to prove herself.

JALAPAO: I really like this tribe. I think like it's a younger Chuay Gahn.

J.T.: Ah, our season's southern redneck. I'm not sure about this strategy, but I did notice he was way out in front for his tribe in the Immunity Challenge.

JOE: All I've got is that he shaved his chest before the game. Like Burton, he'll be hairy in no time should he last that long.

SANDY: I love her. I loved Jan-S5, but she's more than a crazy elder lady everyone loves. She's a player. Even though she is a very emotional person she successfully covered up her going off to look for the idol to say she's getting her head together to only be positive.

SPENCER: I really like this guy, and not just cause he's the kind of guy I wanted as a boyfriend when I was 19. I have no idea if he is more like Rich, Todd, Coby, Brandon, John-S4 or Rafe or something new and different, but I'll be watching.

STEPHEN: He's was the only person other than Sandy who got a vote at the start. He said that he worried that the "neurotic New York Jew" had nothing in common with redneck J.T. Well, based on what we've seen in the past, perhaps they become bosom buddies and alliance partners.

SYDNEY: All I've got is generic pretty woman. However, she was seen as compassionate, and not a bitch. Think Colleen or KimP. instead of JennaM. (Of course, Jenna M. is the one who actually won.)

TAJ: She's been recognized, so like Gary-S11, that might cause problems.

TIMBIRA: They won the first IC, so good for them. Usually we don't get the full dynamics of a tribe until they actually go to TC.

BRENDAN: We know he's wealthy, but that hasn't come up yet.

CANDACE: Not sure. Probst sees her as weak. She's pretty though.

BEN a.k.a. "Coach": Well, he's the one to watch. Will he succeed in his "Keep the Strong, Change the whole game" strategy? My guess is no. I remember Colby telling ShiiAnn how he didn't respect her game. That didn't work. Because of Ben's strength, he could very much make the merge. However, I don't see him in a final 4 with four strong people who can survive in the wild. I could see him say, "Well, this doesn't work, so let me adapt." People who can adapt can win this game. We know from weight spoilers that he probably sticks around for a long while.

DEBBIE: I don't have anything. However, I like her intro clip.

ERINN: She's the only one other than Sierra who got a vote. She's a pretty one, but unlike Sydney, she's going to come off as harder.

JERRY: Not sure.

SIERRA: She made the very interesting choice to try and change the opinion of the tribe. I would have gone for the idol. However, she did sort of redeem herself. She's still the likely first boot from Timbira. However, I hope she takes some time to go look for that idol. It would be a shame if no one found it.

TYSON: I like Tyson. I get a Greg Buis vibe and not just because they are both blondes and not just because I have a thing for blond men. One way to appear not to be a threat is to appear to be crazy. He kicked ass in the immunity challenge. By the way, what straight man talks about wearing fur, rings on his "pretty fingers" and a man-tiara?

CAROLINA: Ever since Debb and Jolanda and Patricia-S4 and Brooke-S9, we've seen that bossiness and/or being a motormouth isn't necessarily a good thing. Voting out Jolanda was a huge mistake, but in the early days there is very little to go on in making a decision. More often than not, a social outcast will get the boot before the physical liability. I didn't think she was that bad, but I didn't live with her. The best way to survive the first TC is not to fuck up and keep your head down.
