I don't think any of them are arrogant to the point that it's a problem. Leah is possibly the least arrogant, but she is also the MOST useless, so any
whiff of arrogance on her part (meaning if she is not constantly flagellating herself and crying about being unworthy) is ten times worse than from any of the
judges who actually can cook...

Stefan is arrogant but I'm liking him a lot more now as the show moves forward. He does admit when he screws up and he was knocked down a couple pegs when he finished in the bottom three. Hosea is just an asshole. He has not one single redeeming quality! |

I think I'm more than capable of differentiating between being European and being a jackass. Being direct and European is not mutually exclusive. I deal
with plenty of fellow Americans who have their head up their asses.
I agree, Drew, that the arrogance won't get in the way of the competition. I merely suggesting that I think Fabio is less endearing, personally, than what we see on the show. The comments he's made goes beyond a whimsical defense of his dishes. Just as I think Carla is no so over the top in real life as she is edited on the show. Just as I suspect Stefan is probably a pretty cool guy when not trying to achieve global culinary domination. |

Fortunately, this is not "Top Best Friend" so I don't really have to LIKE somebody to want them to do well. My favorite chefs haven't always been the most likable ones -- they've been the ones who showed me the most promise early on (although some of them like Malarkey and Jamie crashed and burned thereafter). |

They're just arrogant because they think they're better than all the others, and that they deserve to be there more. That they both happen to be foreign is just a coincidence. I'd agree, though, and say Jamie was arrogant. I don't find Hosea arrogant. |

Hosea is a total douchebag. It's hilarious watching his seething jealousy of Stefan.

I can totally imagine Hosea shouting "In your face!" Homer Simpson style if he'd won as many challenges as Stefan has.

Lots of people have an air of arrogance about them but it's an act because they are insecure and self conscious. I have met people in my life who I felt
acted arrogant and full of themselves and then I got to know them and told them that they were perceived that way. A lot of times they say it's an act or a
defense mechanism because they are either painfully shy or self conscious/insecure. So it's not out of the realm of possibility.
However, I just like to go with my analysis that he's a whiny ass loser douchebag who is seething with jealousy at anyone who's ever been better at him at pretty much anything in life. |

OK so I just finished watching season one and I loved loved LOVED that they showed Tiffanie to be the lying sack of shit that she was through the whole season.
That was hysterical. And no I don't think she got a bad edit. LOL and that whack job Irish dude. I still think CJ is my favorite contestant of all time,
but Stephen was SO ENTERTAINING!

Seaguy has it nailed. Usually people act out "two sides of one coin". Behaving arrogantly is the result of feeling insecure and inferior and needing to find and appear to be "balanced". When you know you are good, and are comfortable in it, you dont need to rub it in or call attention to it. You can just appreciate it. I would wager that deep inside, Stephan feels insecure and inadequate too. |

The new TV Guide has a profile of the last 5 chefs. So much for Leah being the last arrogant. She says: "But the more challenges we went through, the more
confident I felt. I realized I'm better than most of the chefs here." Blark. Stefan's quotation: "They're all great. Everybody has
something to offer."
