I'm glad you like it! And wasn't the Pope completely and utterly crazy? :: love ::

Speaking of Pope books, I got my mom Mistress of Vatican for Christmas. She said she liked it, but I haven't had a chance to confirm (i. e., borrow it)

You really can't go wrong with Pope books. Heh. Regarding his fingernails, it's almost as if the innocent souls that he crushed ended up residing
underneath 'em.
Alan -- read it, I enjoyed it. Right now I am about to start "the Descent" by Jeff Long. Mr eury recommended it to me (he's all morally outraged I haven't yet read it), so hopefully it doesn't suck or he's gonna be in trouble (i.e. I won't let him live it down). |

Ooooh, thanks AASF. I'll need a spacer in between the two books though. Right now I want to punch Pope Julius right in the face. I've had about
enough of his attitude. ;) He kind of had his own proto-Karl Rove, as well. Oh yes, Pope Julius is the second coming! Put him in another fresco or you shall
be planted facedown in the ground and your feet shall be set afire!

I can never resist recommending my three favorite books - 1) You Remind Me of Me by Dan Chaon , 2) The Ha-Ha by Dave King and 3) Jesus Land by Julia Scheeres. They are all fabulous and I recommend them to everyone. |

I need more recommendations if anyone has some. Something light, if you will.
I am almost done with the second Larsson book. It's almost as good as the first. I would not be surprised if it becomes a movie franchise. |

You read the Bourne books? I mean the real ones by Ludlum. Those are fantastiiiiiiiiic. And light, but with loads of killing. woo!
Who out there has read John Le Carre extensively? I am just getting into his super sonic awesomeness so any books by him you could suggest would be swell. |

I read the Bourne books ages ago...but you know what, that's not a bad idea. Maybe I'll read them again.

Lately I've been re-reading all the books I loved as a kid, and some I didn't really like but tried them out again to see how I liked them now.... all
the "Little House" books, "Little Princess", "Secret Garden", all the Narnia books, blah blah blah. Lots of fun!

Yeah, that is a good idea. At least I know I liked the book the first time around. The exception was Pillars of the Earth. I loved that book the first time I
read it. The second time around (about a year or so ago), I thought it was the biggest piece of shit I'd ever clapped eyes on.
Awhile ago I went to the library and looked at some of my favorite books from when I was a kid. It was so fun to find "A Very Young Rider" by Jill Krementz. I LOVED that book as a girl and it was EXACTLY as I remembered it! |

Interesting about Pillars of the Earth...I have that one at home to read... I just can't get into it! Is that Ken Follet? (spelling?) Seems like I've
read other stuff by him and enjoyed it.

Yep, and it's really off the beaten track for him. Sheer awfulness. Seriously. |

It sucks that they don't ship the kindle out of the US. I want one too!
I was off from work the entire week last week and finished a couple of good ones : Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk was easily the best one out of the lot. This past month, I've also read The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman (can't wait to see how they turn this into a movie).. and some other kiddie books (Anthony Horowitz' Power of Five series) and the overhyped 39 clues series - the puzzles and clues reminds me of Gator & Garbo's games.. pretty neat. |

Can you change the thread-title, gup? It's kinda making me, well, yeah.
Zads, what did you think of the "Graveyard Book"? And have you read anything else by Gaiman? I love him. The Sandman series (well, along with the LOTR) is my guilty pleasure. I'm embarrassed to admit that I recently finished reading the Southern Vampire series... and I liked it. I really appreciated how the vampires didn't twinkle and Sookie's first love turns out to be an asshole. |
