A worried Colleen continues waiting while a search
team looks for Brad, who's missing in the middle of a snowstorm. However, her worst fears come true when she gets the bad news: her father is dead. The
news comes shortly after Noah recalls that Brad was the one who pulled him out of the icy lake.
Colleen is devastated by the loss of her fathre. "Colleen's overwhelmed with grief," sighs her portrayer, Tammin Sursok. "She just doesn't know what to do with herself or how to handle this. It's too much."
Many other Genoa City residents are rocked by Brad's death, as well. Noah feels much guilt since he was the one Brad rescued from the lake, and Abby blames Eden since she was the one who took Noah ice skating in the first place. Meanwhile, a devastated Sharon works to comprehend the news of Brad's death -- especially since the last conversation she had with him consisted of him professing his love for her. "So many people are involved in this," notes Sursok. "The sadness spreads to everyone."
At Brad's funeral, the tension builds and finally boils to an eruption. Colleen overhears Victor offering Abby a million dollars to any charity of her choice in Carlton's honor, and she's pushed to the breaking point. She finally confronts Victor -- right there in front of everyone. "She screams at him that he has no business being there because he hated Brad," shares Sursok. "She's so angry and just tells him off. He's the last person she wants to see."
Ashley and Victoria ask Victor to make his exit, which infuriates him. "Even though Ashley's been living with Victor, Colleen doesn't have any problems with her," clarifies Sursok. "If anything, Ashley is looking out for her. Colleen realizes that she needs to help Ashley in being there for Abby. Abby's her sister, even if they're not biologically related. That doesn't matter to her. They need to stick together."
Expect to see a stronger Colleen in the future. "Up to now, at least during my time playing her, she's been pretty laid-back," says Sursok. "So it was interesting to do scenes where she's so emotional and lashing out. But it's tough dealing with a death of someone close, so it's understandable that she'd act out like this. It's going to take a long time for everyone to recover from something this big.
