UNPOSSIBLE! I'll have to watch DD now. There are two kinds of people in this world: those who think Fight Club is a superb piece of filmmaking, and those who I am willing to interact with. |

well, who kills frank in the TU? donnie does.
by luring donnie out of his bed at the beginning of the film, frank is essentially setting up the string of domino's that will eventually convince donnie to make his ultimate sacrifice. why would frank do this? because if donnie can be convinced to make himself a martyr in the PU, as opposed to continue living in the TU, there is no car accident/gun shot and frank survives. remember the red-heading girl in tLToC? she was a demon sent by satan to show christ how great life would be if he denounced the cross. frank is kinda the opposite - hes showing donnie how shitty life will be if he doesnt allow himself to take the jet engine in the noggin. the parallels between the two films are numerous. |

But why bother waking Donnie up (making him not get hit by the engine) in the first place?
Why would he need to be convinced to die when he was going to anyway? That said, I do enjoy the movie. In a weird, dark place kind of way. ETA: This is assuming I remember the movie correctly, it's been a LONG time. |

I recently watched Southland Tales which was also written and directed by Richard Kelly. It was unlike any movie I've ever seen and after multiple viewings
I can't decide if it's brilliant, shitty, or brilliantly shitty.

I actually just saw this for the first time about a week ago. I thought it was great! Confusing, but still pretty good.
I found it funny how Jake and Maggie Gylenhaal play brother and sister in the movie. |

Are Jake and Maggie still together?

Angelina broke them up. At least DD makes more sense than LOST does. The engine fell in the TU, creating a time loop. DD had to make it go back and fall in the primary U to get things back on track. Why? I dunno. Nobody seemed to notice except him. Maybe to save the chick, although I'm sure the future molestees would see it differently, since Swayze didn't end up going to jail. What a horrible message. |

Why didnt Drew Barrymore simply run outside and hide in the bushes? Why was she in DD to begin with? ::confuzzled::

If only she'd died in Fever Pitch. Anyway, her prodco picked up the underfunded film and helped it get made. She was also dating Tawny Kitaen at the time. hence the hairdon't |

The Tangent Universe starts at the time Frank pulls Donnie out of the house, before the engine falls. There is a corruption in space/time and the engine
traveled through the corruption to the past. Donnie pulls the engine off the plane 28 days later and sends it into the past. Both events take place in the
Tangent Universe. How can a corruption of time in the Tangent Universe create a Tangent Universe? The corruption has to occur for the Tangent Universe to
occur, right?

But if that girl was in the TU why did she appear right after the crash? How could she be in both places at the same time?

Yes, Gretchen. And why does Gretchen appear in the notes of The Philosophy of Time Travel as a Manipulated Dead?

She did? Cool. Is that bonus DVD stuff? I can only afford to watch free movies, hence the lapse in time since it's original release date. On top of that, I simply wasn't ready to wrap my mind around it.
In my estimation, I assumed by her smile at the end, Gretchen perhaps is living a different sort of life but per ogs' memory theory, she recognized something in Donnie's mom? Thus in the TU, she is alive but dies a tragic strange temporal loop death. |
