I'm kind of dreading the ratings tomorrow. Yeah I know, there are real problems in the world. I'm just pretty tired of Idol and I know Mentalist is
probably going to take a big hit with Idol back. The show was getting 19 million -- that almost has to take a hit. There are so many in the press and the
snotty types who hate CBS procedurals that they're just waiting for an opportunity. This show might get more of a break, since the creator also created
"Rome" and since Simon Baker's a pretty good actor (so good that he makes this part look too easy), but I don't know.
I'm enjoying this because I think it's one of the rare procedurals which has room for character growth, and because of the dual layer of short term and long term story. I also like the ensemble; even the female characters fit in more now.
I also like seeing the show do well because of all the bitching pre-season that they were ripping off Psych, since of course Psych invented fake psychics. I know I always remember that episode where Shawn had a mental breakdown over his wife and child being slaughtered.
