Closing Confessional:
Chet: Man, I'm starving. Let's chow. Ryan: Let's finish this up first. And do you think we'll have food to eat here? Chet: Oh... *looks around* right. Ryan: Well, that was a particularly long leg. But it was quite enjoyable. This Davina chick is wayyy more demented than that Phil dude. Chet: Agreeance. I... OH NO! *looks at jacket with small hole* Ryan: Too bad you didn't get to bring your sewing machine. Chet: Ryan: They might. But I think the only fabric they can give you is in the brown color family. Chet: Boo! -_- |

Yes, begging was gay and retarded.
And so was taking 2 hours to reach the airport. But I liked the detour! But everything taking 20 updates was stupid. V_V |

Pit Stop: The Pit Stop for this Race is the riverbank by the village of Paya, Panama. Paya is a prime example of yet another group of folk ignorant to the power of the modern world, choosing a life of eternal poverty and starvation over progress... or do they have a point? Post (INCLUDE THE AMOUNT OF MONEY YOU HAVE REMAINING): *team checks in*
Teams have now reached a makeshift jetty of sorts. They may decide to hire a speedboat to take them to the Pit Stop, or continue walking. Post: *speedboat to Paya riverbank* (4 USD / 1U) *walk to Paya riverbank* (Free / 2U) (2/3) Eustace & Muriel / Farmer & Wife (yope3141)
Route Info: Teams must now make their way to the next Pit Stop, the riverbank by the village of Paya. Much of the Darién Gap is only accessible by boat or by foot, and teams will find that the path from Yaviza splits 3 ways, each with a sign beside it. Further along 2 of the paths, teams will then get the option to hire a boat to the Pit Stop or continue on foot. Path 1

Post: *team picks path (1-3)* Rebecca & Sassy / Twins (YemaGrl1988) (+16 USD) WARNING - The last team to check in will be eliminated. How about the 2nd last team? It is a mystery! Post: *receive and read clue*
Detour: Fire Arms or Traffick Arms In Fire Arms, teams will have to pick up a set of loaded firearms. They must then perform target practice:
On this grid, they must attempt to score 845 points with exactly 170 hits on the targets. The colour on each square indicates the score for it. Use an image-editing program (such as Paint) for this, demarcating the hits with either a unique colour or a marking - each altered square represents 1 hit. When teams think they are done, they must PM me with the answer. If they are wrong, I will indicate as such in the subsequent update; if they are correct, they will receive their next clue. Post: *pick up firearms and run to target area* Walter & Olivia / FBI Agents (Crowlass) In Traffick Arms, teams will have to deliver a suitcase of firearms through a nearby township to receive their next clue:
The grid above simulates the road and building pattern of a colonial or planned settlement. Teams must trace a path in the grid from the start to the end; you do so by filling up a route from the red S to the red E through the empty squares. You may only move from an adjacent square to another (i.e. between squares that share sides). However, police forces are lying in ambush in 1/4 of the squares. If a team is ambushed on a square, they will be forced to retreat back to the start. With each update, I will announce in which squares teams have been ambushed. Teams may either choose to PM me their grid before each update, or post it in this thread - it is your call. Also, each team has the power to clear ONE square of policemen if they wish to; they must post in this thread if they want to clear a square, and pick the square they want to clear policemen from. Once teams have managed to navigate a clear path through the town, they will receive their next clue. Post: *pick up loaded suitcase and begins navigation through town* Post: *the team will choose (Detour choice)*
Teams are now headed for the town of Yaviza via minibuses, through some heavily deforested and grazed landscape. When they arrive at the end of the grubby Pan-American Highway just outside of town, they will find their next clue. Post: *run out to retrieve and rip open clue* STOP BEGGING FOR MONEY FROM THIS POINT ONWARDS. CREDIT FOR YOUR BEGS TO BE SORTED EN ROUTE TO YAVIZA.
Route Info: At the Albrook Bus Terminal, teams will have to travel by minibuses along the Pan-American Highway to its edge at the jungle town of Yaviza. However, minibuses do not leave the terminal until they have at least 9 passengers on board. First, teams must approach a minivan driver to start their minibus, they must then ensure that a minimum of 9 people occupy by the bus before they head for their destination. Other teams may join them, or else a random number of strangers from 1-3 will enter a minibus per update. NOTE: As soon as a minibus is started, other teams may join the minibus before I update. Also, you may not switch minibuses once you enter one. To start a minibus - Post: *ask minibus driver (choose a whole number from 1-16) to start his vehicle* (10 USD) To join a minibus - Post: *join minibus (choose a minibus that has already been started up)* (10 USD) When teams land in the sprawling mess of Panama City, they must make their way to the Albrook Bus Terminal just west of downtown, in order to receive their next clue. They may do so by taxi, bus or 'chicken bus': Post (choose one): *taxi to Albrook Bus Terminal* (8 USD / 1U) *bus to Albrook Bus Terminal* (3 USD / 3U) *chicken bus to Albrook Bus Terminal* (1 USD / 4U) You may post as soon as your flight lands at its scheduled time.
Teams will now realise that they are still stuck in the dodgy neighbourhood of Compton. As long as they remain in the neighborhood, they will encounter a 20% chance of getting mugged, and a 10% chance of snatch theft. You may avoid a mugging by posting *flees mugger* within 2 minutes of an update where a mugger approaches you, if not all your money will be gone. There is no way to avoid snatch theft, and half of your money will be gone. In any case, you forfeit 1 update. Since production has rigged the cars to break down and will not be sending replacement vehicles, teams must now find alternative means to LAX. Post (choose one): *taxi to LAX* (15 USD / 3U, leaves Compton on 2U) *metro to LAX* (10 USD / 4U, leaves Compton on 3U) *bus to LAX* (5 USD / 5U, leaves Compton on 4U) There is a crackle and hiss as the speedometer goes haywire and teams see white smoke rising from the bonnet. All teams beyond the 2nd update are forced to bail from their cars. Post: *bail from car, (pick any whole number from 1-10)*
Route Info: Teams will now make their way to the region of Darién Gap in Panama. The Gap is a stretch of treacherous marshland favoured as a hiding spot by shady Colombian groups, and is also the only break on the Pan-American Highway. Due to the high economic and environmental costs, and the role of the Gap in preventing the spread of cattle diseases into North America, various plans to breach the Gap remain pipe dreams. To do so, they will first get into the Hummers provided and drive themselves to Los Angeles International Airport, or LAX, where they will then purchase flight tickets to Panama City. As the Panamaian balboa is pegged to the US dollar, and the latter is accepted throughout the country (and also flows around more easily internationally! Good for illegal purposes, certainly), there is no need to exchange money on this leg of the Race.

Thoughts on the Leg:
A begging cap of 3 (like in previous races, or you could make it 2 this time) would be good. I like begging, it makes the race real. I also love the transportation varieties/problems that the teams have. Although yes, the big intervals for each transportation is kinda too much. And just like the real TAR (except for some seasons), no roadblock in episode 1! Yay! Also, since your starting clue is hard, and if there are other things to be done before you leave the country, why not make the answering of the first clue by PM? |

Post (INCLUDE THE AMOUNT OF MONEY YOU HAVE REMAINING): *team checks in* (1/2) Eustace & Muriel / Farmer & Wife (yope3141)
Teams have now reached a makeshift jetty of sorts. They may decide to hire a speedboat to take them to the Pit Stop, or continue walking. Post: *speedboat to Paya riverbank* (4 USD / 1U) *walk to Paya riverbank* (Free / 2U) (1/3) Walter & Olivia / FBI Agents (Crowlass)
Path 1
Path 2
Path 3
Post: *pick up firearms and run to target area* In Traffick Arms, teams will have to deliver a suitcase of firearms through a nearby township to receive their next clue:

All begs before the ban will be counted, I will look through the thread and give credit where possible. Don't worry about finances, I will sort them out
since clearly players have been through more than enough for this leg. I am completely sorry for this mess.
(Tom Cruise leaps out from behind Davina to astonish the incoming Racers.) Tom Cruise: What am I doing here, you ask? Oh, uh, nothing much, really. I was just looking for a place to build a new Scientology cult centre. (trademark intense stare) I think these people actually believe what I'm talking about! 1. And another thing I'd like to point out, doesn't a begging team have to forfeit one update? I don't see that rule applies to this leg at all.
